Realism and naturalism is a style of paintings are
exactly based on literal thing with aspects of the
real properties, without taking or adding anything.
LIFE
His Father, Abdullah Soerjo Soebroto is also a painter, so painting
have always been part of his childhood days as his father.

He started to paint at the age of 4, his early paintings are


Mahatma Gandhi, Rabindranath Tagore, Jesus Christ, and
Krishnamurdi.

During the Japanese occupation of Indonesia he was an art


teacher.

1933 - He got scholarship to Den Haag, at the Academia Voor


Beeldende Kunsten in the Netherland. 1936 - He got the Royal
International of Art (IRA) certificate.
1948 - He beats 87 other painters from Europe in the Art
Competition in Netherlands. After that, he become a self-potrait
painter.

He traveled to many countries (mostly Europe) and cities after his


graduation, but between 1962-1976 he lived in Thailand.

1963 he become palace painter (Royal Court Artist) in Thailand


and received a gift Stars as Artists Poporo Palace.

He married with Thai girl, Nataya Nareerat. They have a daughter


who is named Sidawaty Bharany.

1974 - He returned to Jakarta, and he brought his Thai wife. After


that, He become painter Palace in Indonesia.

In 1993 He was murdered by a robber in his house.


WORK

Basuki Abdullah has requested by many great


people to paint their potrait, such as: 1st President
of Indonesia (Soekarno); 2nd President of
Indonesia (Soeharto); Sultan of Brunei
Darussalam; Prince Philip of England; Prince
Bernard of Netherlands Kingdom; Queen Juliana
of Netherland Kingdom; King Bhumibol Adulyadej
and his wife, Queen Sirikit of Muangthai Kingdom.
His works are displayed in:

- Netherlands

- United Kingdom

- Portugal

- Singapore [Sotheby]

- Indonesia's Palace & Indonesian National Gallery
