$35 for forty-five minutes

Tuition is paid monthly (though this may change in the future), and is due by the 7th
of each monthafter which a 10% late fee will be applied.

*I am willing to offer scholarship to a limited number of those who truly need it.
These will be discussed and arranged on a case-by-case basis.

Lesson Format:
I teach private lessons once a week for each student. We work on concepts such as
the following in these lessons: sight-reading, ear training, rhythm, theory, technique,
time period characteristics, and phrasing/musicality. The depth in which each
concept is studied will vary with ages and ability levels.

Recitals:
I hold recitals twice a year, and it is expected that each student perform. Recitals
encourage students to practice and work toward their goals, as well as offer a chance
to build confidence and share the fruits of their efforts.

Cancellation policy:
I cannot offer refunds for missed lessons. Additionally, because make-up lessons are
difficult to arrange, I do not offer them. While it may be frustrating to pay for a
lesson that isnt used, please recognize that this is my profession and I depend on
consistent income. The policy is also not much different than any other extra-
curricular activity you may have your child participate in. For instance, if your child
cannot attend a soccer practice or dance class, you are not reimbursed the cost of
that practice/class. I understand that occasionally a student may need to miss a lesson
for circumstances out of their control (sickness, death in the family, family
emergencies, etc). For this reason, I offer one lesson credit per semester that may
be applied to the next months invoice.

Please see the Sickness Policy below for situations where *I* must cancel
lessons.
I do allow parents to trade their students lesson times if a schedule conflict arises,
but I must be notified of the change before lesson day. It is up to the parents to
coordinate the lesson exchange on their own.

***Sickness Policy:
If your child is too sick to attend school/other functions, has a fever, has
vomited/had diarrhea within the last 48 hours, or has a condition that requires
antibiotics and has not been on the antibiotics for at least 24 hours, THEY MAY
NOT COME TO PIANO LESSONS. If they arrive for their lesson and fall under one
of the above criteria, I will promptly call the parent to pick up their student. Though
I have my students wash their hands prior to their lesson and attempt to keep the
piano clean, it is INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT that these guidelines are followed!! They
are in place to keep illnesses from spreading throughout my entire studio, and to
keep my young toddler from contracting everything that my students may bring in. I
do recognize that building immunity is important! However, in-home teachers
expose themselves, their students, and their families to many more germs than those
who dont teach from home. Please follow these guidelines so that sickness can be
reasonably contained. (For lessons missed due to sickness, please see the Cancellation
Policy above.)

If I get sick and fall under any of the above criteria, I will cancel lessons until the
listed symptoms are resolved. I will offer lesson credits for every lesson *I* have to cancel on
my account. This is another reason it is important for the Sickness Policy to be
followed- I dont like cancelling lessons and causing my students progress to slow!

Purchasing Music:
Most music is available at the local music store, as well as on Amazon. I email parents
the links to required music purchases. Occasionally I may select music myself for a
student; when I do this, the cost of the music will be included in next months tuition
charge.

Practice:
I do not set a specific amount of practice time for all my students. It is possible for
students to practice very efficiently in a short amount of time, but my experience is
that it takes time for students to learn and apply the discipline required for that level of
efficiency. Thus, my rough guideline is that the student should be practicing the length of
their lesson, five days a week. If a student is struggling in lessons because of lack of
practice, we will meet and re-evaluate our purpose in meeting together for lessons.
Ultimately, I may choose to terminate the lessons contract.
Philosophy and Expectations:
As a teacher, I want each of my students to find joy and fulfillment in music
education. My expectations for each student are different, and take into account the
goals of the student and parents. However, regardless of the end goal of music
lessons for each student, it is expected that every student will practice sufficiently to meet
their goal, and that their parents will be just as involved in every part of this music studio as
their student.

I reserve the right to terminate lessons with any students or parents that do not meet
these expectations, though this is not an outcome I prefer and I will do what I can to
find alternative solutions.

If you or your child desires to terminate lessons, I offer to finish out the current
month of lessons. I do not offer refunds should you choose not to finish out the
current month.

I, _____________________________, have read the above studio policy. By signing,

I agree that my child and I understand and will abide by these terms. I also understand that
Cera Keeler reserves the right to edit the contract and will notify me upon doing so. The
contract may be terminated at any time according to the terms outlined above.
