13th September 2017

Dear parents and carers,

Welcome back and we hope you had a great Summer break! This letter is designed to let you know
about the topics for this term and to inform you about homework, PE and swimming.

This term our learning will revolve around the theme of Time Travellers. The challenge question for
the school is:

How can we use the creative arts to share the history of Greenwich?

Each class will create a scene for the whole school film later in the term. In year 1 we will be learning,
creating and acting poems about Nelson and life at sea.

As Historians we will research Nelson, the Battle of Trafalgar and the importance of Greenwich in
their story.
AsScientistswewillinvestigatematerialsandexploretheirpropertiesinthecontextofboat-building
and life on board HMS Victory.
As Geographers we will learn how to use maps to locate important places in Nelson and Victorys
journey.
As A
rtists we will paint portraits of Nelson, sketch the sea and design and make love tokens.
As U sers of Technology we will create a documentary-style film and also an e-invite to its premier.
