The meeting was opened by

PPRD East Programme Team
Leader, the Ministry of
Emergency Situations of the
Republic of Azerbaijan
representative and the
representative of the EU
Delegation in Azerbaijan.

After the official opening and the

introduction of all participants,
the PPRD East Programme Team
Leader, Mr. Sergej Anagnosti,
informed the auditorium that the
3rd NAG Meeting in Azerbaijan
would be also used to present the
PPRD East programme raising
awareness materials and to launch the PPRD East
Programme Information Campaign in Azerbaijan.
In addition, and responding to the request received
from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the
presentation on the Civil Protection Host Nation
Support and Provision of Assistance during
Emergencies was included in the Agenda. The topic

was presented by the PPRD East Programme Civil Protection Non-key Expert
Mr. Phill Langdale.
After the official openning, all participants
were aksed to introduce themselves. They
mentioned that the objectives of the
Programme show that how important the
Programme is and what kind of benefits
participating country can obtain in the field
of civil protection and disaster risk management.
The PPRD East Programme progress since the previous NAG meeting was
presented by the PPRD East Programme Expert Team.
Participants were reminded that the overall objective of the PPRD East
Programme is to contribute to the peace, stability, security and prosperity of
the Eastern Partner
Countries and to protect the
environment, the population, the
cultural heritage, the resources
and the infrastructures of the
region by strengthening the
Partner Countries resilience,
prevention, preparedness and response to man-made and disasters caused by
natural hazards. The purpose of the Programme is to contribute to the
development of the Partner Countries' civil protection capacities for disaster
prevention, preparedness and response through bilateral and regional

cooperation, as well as to bring the Partner Countries progressively closer to

the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.
Presentations on the achievements
and results for the Activity Areas A, B
and C were presented by the PPRD
East Expert Team. As part of the
presentation of the achievements of
the Activity Area D and the launching
of the Information Campaign in
Azerbaijan, the PPRD East Programme Communication Key Expert Mr.
Volodymr Kuznietsov presented the PPRD East Information Campaign to
increase awareness of citizens on CP, DM and DRR issues at the national level
and the PPRD East Programme informational materials.
Presentations were followed with
the plenary discussion on the
topics of the flood early warning
systems, recovery costs for the
damages and injuries incurred in
flood accidents, flood prevention
and mitigation, public awareness
and especially public awareness activities in rural areas, existence of the
evacuation plan for Baku, mitigation plan for the prevention of infectious
diseases during emergency situations and similar.
