performance is an important factor used to measure how efficient and effective a manager
to determine and achieve the organization objectives. Therefore, the objective of the
present research was to investigate the effect of participating in budgeting, job relevant
information, self-efficacy and work satisfaction on the managerial performance. It was
expected that with a good managerial performance, an organization could increase its or-
ganizational efficiency and effectiveness.
The present research was a survey by distributing a questionnaire to the department heads
and study program chairs of private universities in Pekanbaru Municipal. Based on set
criteria, there were 89 sets of questionnaire which could be processed out of 94 sets of
retuned questionnaire (77.04%). The analysis method used was a structural equation
model (SEM) which was based on components or variants with the software of SmartPLS
version 1.0.
The results show that participation in budgeting directly had a positive effect on the ma-
nagerial performance. The results also revealed that the participation in the budgeting had
a positive effect on the managerial performance through the work satisfaction. The results
did not prove the job relevant information and self-efficacy as intervening variables the
correlation between the participation in budgeting and the managerial performance.
