God Said, I Made a Man

Jose Garcia Villa

SUMMARY
Then God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have
dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock
and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth. We are all
indeed Gods creation, and we cannot deny the fact that among these creations, we are
the most superior.

The first stanza of the poem describes humans as shining gold which means we
are all gifted intellectually, socially, emotionally and all factors relating to components of
human wellness. We are also capable of mass inventions and utilizing worlds resources
necessary for survival. We can say that God made us from the best of everything.

Due to worlds continuous development, different ideologies sprouted to attest

Gods existence. Humans became eager to acquire superior knowledge not only of the
universe but also about his creator. This poem was written to show the mans desire to
understand everything about God, even at the limits of His abilities. At the second stanza
of the poem, the man attempted to measure Gods aptitudes by aiming a bow to Him,
requesting to maintain the peace to His new creation. God granted the request as the
man wished to. He is astonished by the guts of the man to confront Him head on. He also
wondered why such a member of His creation turned against Him.

INTERPRETATION
This poem speaks about humans who turned against the will of God. We are the
best creation of Him, and in Him we are living a life today. The poem talks about our
desires to conquer more to the extent that we are questioning Gods existence and plans.
Human dissatisfaction leads to the complexity and disoriented life.

Curiosity is innate to every individual. This leads us to explore more, wonder more
and find solutions to our problems. We always seek for satisfying arguments that will be
acceptable to our personal views in life. But the world is too vast to know whats really
deep within. There are things that we cannot unveil no matter how we strive to look at its
extremities. And these are the things that only God can understand. We, humans,
regardless of the developments and life-changing innovations, have inherent limitations to
our capacity. Even though we are Gods most superior creation, God set a barrier that
prevents us from going deep for what is really intended for us. No one knows the reason
why. But one thing is for sure, God made that for a reason. And that reason is for the
benefit of His overall creation.

MORAL LESSON
The main lesson from the poem is to be contented and satisfied in life. We shall also
recognize that we can never become God and cannot surpass God at all cost. No matter
how we try doing so, we will always end up to be one of His creations. At the end of the
day, we owe this world to Him and the more we want to search for the answers, the more
we lose our track to our true purpose in this world.
