2. INTRODUCTION TO COMPANY

Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited, or Jio, is an LTE mobile network operator in India. It is a
wholly owned subsidiary of Reliance Industries headquartered in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra that
provides wireless 4G LTE service network (without 2G/3G based services) and is the only
'VoLTE-only' (Voice over LTE) operator in the country which lacks legacy network support
of 2G and 3G, with coverage across all 22 telecom circles in India.

The services were first beta-launched to Jio's partners and employees on 27 December 2015 on the
eve of 83rd birth anniversary of late Dhirubhai Ambani, founder of Reliance Industries, and later
services were commercially launched on 5th September 2016.

3. DESCRIPTION OF REPORT

Brief Introduction to Tower Engineering, MIS

Reconciliation, Rectification Posting in SAP,
Tasks Assigned: Documentation in Material Reconciliation.

Technologies and Tools Used: SAP Database Management, MS-Excel,

Documentation and Vendor Bill Reconciliation.

3.1 Tower Engineering Types of Towers and their Infrastructures

Radio masts and towers are, typically, tall structures designed to support antennas (also known as
aerials) for telecommunications and broadcasting, including television. There are two main types:
guyed and self-supporting structures. They are among the tallest man-made structures.
Masts are often named after the broadcasting organizations that originally built them or currently
use them. In the case of a mast radiator or radiating tower, the whole mast or tower is itself the
transmitting antenna. The terms "mast" and "tower" are often used interchangeably. However, in
structural engineering terms, a tower is a self-supporting or cantilevered structure, while a mast is
held up by stays or guys. Broadcast engineers in the UK use the same terminology. A mast is a
ground-based or rooftop structure that supports antennas at a height where they can satisfactor ily
send or receive radio waves. Typical masts are of steel lattice or tubular steel construction. Masts
themselves play no part in the transmission of mobile telecommunications. Masts (to use the civil
engineering terminology) tend to be cheaper to build but require an extended area surrounding
them to accommodate the guy wires. Towers are more commonly used in cities where land is in
short supply.
3.1.1 Types of towers:
GBT Ground Base Tower
GBM Ground Base Mast
NBT Narrow Base Tower
RTT Roof Top Tower
RTP Roof Top Pole

Description in brief:

1. GBT Ground Base Tower is the set up directly in the ground has plays direct part in
telecommunication networking. It is usually preferred over Ground Base Mast in areas
where there is shortage of land. It is self-supporting.
2. GBM Ground Base Mast is a supported tower structure set up directly in ground. It
contains the antenna which is set up atop it used for radio transmission purpose. It
requires support of slays or guyed stays or heavy binding for its erection and support. It is
narrow is size.
3. NBT Narrow Base Tower is same as GBT in structure and functionality but it very
narrow base in size (width) as the name suggests. It is set up in areas where there in
shortage of space in the surrounding. It is self-supporting.
4. RTT Roof Top Tower is same as GBT in structure and functionality but is set up on a
roof top instead of Ground Base as the name suggests. It is light weight and comparative ly
smaller in size to GBT. It is set up in areas where there in shortage of land space or the soil
is not suitable for tower erection. It is self-supporting. The tower has to 4 legged and
support an antenna.
5. RTP Roof Top Pole is a simple pole setup atop a roof of a building, house, etc. It is a
very small as compared to Tower and Mast. It has no cabinet structure and is usually
powered using battery or by means EC source. It is a tall, light weight structure which is
very narrow in size.

3.2 MIS RECONCILIATION

Management information system (MIS) refers to the processing of information through computers
and other intelligent devices to manage and support managerial decisions within an organizatio n.
The concept may include systems termed transaction processing system, decision support system,
expert system, or executive information system. The term is often used in the academic study of
businesses and has connections with other areas, such as information systems, informa tio n
technology, and informatics, e-commerce and computer science; as a result, the term is used
interchangeably with some of these areas.

The main task assigned was to complete MIS Report on MAST Final working for June. This
included to go through the already accumulated compiled data from tenders registered by the
vendors. The report contained the Product Details, Vendor Details, Quantity required for each
component, Quantity Available for each components in the warehouse, Date of tender, etc. The
task was to look for whether the components are available with the company or not, whether the
site requires the quantity or not and then assign the number of components that have been to be
given to the particular vendor for the particular site.

The assignment was performed by filtering the data first by vendor ID, then by Product ID and
then by the Site ID and then look for the availability of using all three IDs in the SAP Database
of the company for UP East which contains the availability details and Consumption details for
each vendor and the product for that site. Thus if the consumption limit is not exceeded for that
particular vendor for that site, the tender is approved and the equipment is assigned for that
application. Also the vendor requirement has to be consistent along all sites for that vendor even
if the tender shows increased amount of required equipments for some sites.

The data had to be compiled and rechecked for over 40+ sites, 50+ Vendors and 50+ equipments
which took almost 2 weeks for complete compilation. The task mainly comprised of working on
MS-Excel and SAP.
3.3 CONSUMPTION POSTING and RECTIFICATION in SAP:

SAP ("Systems, Applications & Products in Data Processing") is a German multinational software
corporation that makes enterprise software to manage business operations and customer relations.
Basis Administration is considered as the backbone of SAP system management. This is a crucial
job with multiple aspects of maintaining high level of system performance for smooth functio ning
of an organization. BASIS Support facilities associated are:
1) Performance Tuning,
2) Trouble Shooting, and Error Analysis & Correction,
3) Adoption to changes in business requirements and
4) Migration of application/database to different versions.

The SAP provides and database management system for Data Compilation and rectifica tio n
System for Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd. Thus all the data pertaining to tenders registered by the
venders and consumption and availability of the materials are all posted, rectified on SAP used by
Jio.
The main application of SAP during my tenure was to use SAP and look for the material
consumption and availability for the particular material and Vendor using the Vendor ID and
Product ID and rectify the database with the present status of Material consumption and
availability.

3.4 PROPER DOCUMENTATION of MATERIAL RECONCILIATION

Major Task Included:

1. Vendor Bill Reconciliation Vendor Reconciling statements allows company to ensure

that there are no mistakes or inaccuracies between what the vendor is charging you and
the inventory, services or supplies you received. The main task was compare the bill
presented by the vendor and bill issued by the company on issue of Work Completion
Certificate to rectify any mistake and complete the agreement for work completion.

2. Material Reconciliation Issued is done to analyze and verify ingredients at the end of
a production process. It allows you to compare the material quantity that actually flowed
in with the planned quantity or the quantity of the material produced. The main work to
compare the quantity of material supplied from the company vs Work Completion
Certificate issued by the vendor to see that each and every material is utilized completely
and work completion certificate is authentic and complete.

3. Proper Documentation of Material Reconciliation Finally preparing a complete

report on MAST Final Working for the month of June by arranging the Work Completion
Certificates, Vendor Bill Reconciliations, Material Bill Reconciliation first in Vendor
Wise order then in Work Order (ID given according to the tenders registered) wise to
complete the report.

4. RESULT

MIS Reconciliation is one of the major ways of handling data for a particular task and
exchanging and compiling of data in order to maintain a good record of ongoing tasks. In a
rapidly growing company like Jio MIS reconciliation becomes very handy in completing the
work in fast and smooth manner.
The MAST final Working Report for the month of June allowed the Lucknow office to sanction
50+ vendors materials which would allow them to work on 40+ Sites thus resulting in erection
of towers across U.P East and help Jio to grow at a faster pace. Also learning about tower
engineering is very beneficial as part of Curriculum of Telecommunication Engineering.
5. CONCLUSION

Tower Engineering and MIS Reconciliation are the sole of the Telecomm Industry. A rapidly
growing company in the Telecommunication sector Jio, is one of the hotspot for expansion of
4G services in India. Thus working in such an organization helped me a lot to more about the
telecommunication industry. A concise introductio n to Types of Tower and the materials used
for their construction as well learning about how the procedure works was a source of knowledge
overall.
MIS Reconciliation is the backbone of everything in the industry. Everything has to be recorded
well and rectified to ensure smooth working of the projects. I learned how to handle data in MS-
Excel and SAP Database Management Server. Data Handling, rectification and Filtering were
the main things I learned during the tenure. Thus software tools like these help a lot in real
working scenario.
Proper Documentation of certificates in order to compile and complete the report on the
assigned task is a significant to learn how to present a completed task.
