NIT Trichy is surely known for its placements and is ranked first among all NITs for a

reason. In 2016 the percentage of total students placed was 96.7 percent. For EEE
department it was 100 percent for both 2015 and 2016. Talking about the companies
that come for recruiting there are reputed names like Schneider Electric, BHEL,
Eicher,BGR energy Bharat Bijlee. But many students from circuital branches also opt
for roles in IT/CS and management as such. In these sectors we have some really big
names like Amazon, Google, Facebook in tech and Credit Suisse, Morgan Stanley,
Delloite in Finance/management role. The training and placement cell of NIT Trichy is
well managed and every year it brings down some of the best companies to the
campus. NIT Trichy is constantly working on making its students industry ready and it
is showcased in the placement statistics. NIT Trichy is much more than placements.
Here you will learn much more than what you learn from textbooks. Staying here for
four years will make you ready for the outside world.

Both NIT Trichy and NIT Warangal are among the top three NITs are among the best institutes in
India. But NIT Trichy has been consistently ranking better than NIT Warangal for some years now.
According to the MHRD rankings of engineering colleges NIT Trichy stands at 11th position while NIT
Warangal stands much below at 34th rank. Among the NITs NIT Trichy stands first. Coming to the
mechanical department, NIT trichy showcased better placement statistics than NIT Warangal. NIT
Trichy had 94.8 percent placement in 2016 and 98.5 percent in 2017. While NIT warangal had 91.11
percent placement in 2016. In terms of course outline and faculty both colleges are almost equal.
But recently NIT Trichy had started the system of '"Flexible Curriculum" which allows teachers and
students to discuss and decide on things like methods of evaluation and dates of exams and course
outline as such. However this system has just started and will take some time to get better. NIT
Trichy has many clubs like PSI Racing, Designers consortium and 3D aero modelling in which students
can gain lot of practical knowledge by working on real projects. I would suggest joining NIT Trichy as
the institution strives hard to improve quality of students and make them ready for the industry.

NIT, Trichy has been ranked one among the NITs for a while now whereas NIT, Warangal is said to be
in top 3 but it's position keeps on fluctuating. If we see the MHRD ranking for engineering colleges
NIT,Trichy stands at 11 while NIT, Warangal stands at 34. Coming to the EEE department, the
curriculum of both the colleges is similar and revolves around all the subjects in both electrical and
electronics. You can get detailed curriculum of NIT, Warangal here:
http://www.nitw.ac.in/main/academics/schemes-syllabus/ and for NIT, Trichy here
https://www.nitt.edu/home/academics/curriculum/B.Tech-EE-2016.pdf. The faculty in both the colleges is
comparable as they follow government rules for recruitment of professors. However the big
difference is in the placements. In 2016 NIT, Warangal saw a placement of 88.4% for the EEE
department while NIT Trichy had 100% placement for both 2015 and 2016. The numbers speak for
themselves, the industry as such sees NIT Trichy's students as more employable than that of NIT
Warangal's. Some people may disagree. I would definitely suggest to join NIT, Trichy over NIT,
Warangal.

Is it better to drop a year for JEE Advanced or should I take admission in an
average college?
https://ask.shiksha.com/is-it-better-to-drop-a-year-for-jee-advance-or-should-i-
take-admission-in-an-average-college-qna-4293759

As already pointed out by my fellow students taking a drop has its own merits and
demerits.
But before starting I would like to mention that whenever I would be referring to
"average college" it would be in regards with tier 1 government colleges which are
among top 3 among their respective states.
So let's take example of my own two friends who took a drop, one of them was
getting a tier one college in Maharashtra in first attempt but he rejected that offer
and took a drop year. He got into one of newer IITs (one of which almost no one has
ever heard about). In this case I would say it was a waste of one year. He should have
gone into the average college as packages of that college are comparable to the new
IITs. Another of my friend was in same situation and he took admission in the
average college and is doing pretty well in academics and I can bet he will land 8-10
LPA package for sure.
Another example is one of my friends who took a drop and got into one of the old
IITs but for that he worked really hard. Everyday he would study for a minimum of 8
hours for a year and his efforts paid off.
So, in conclusion if you are sure that you will give your hundred percent and won't
slack off during the preparation go for the drop year. If you aren't sure then join the
average college.
But in any case don't join any college other than IITs, NITs, BITS and other tier 1
colleges. You would be wasting your four years. Consider doing something different
than engineering if you are not getting tier 1 colleges. But if badly want to do
Engineering then join a top tier 2 college and work extremely hard and be top of
your class in Btech.

Hey there.
Currently majority of students studying in top IIMs are from engineering (generally
from top colleges.)
This is because of following reasons-
1. These students have a record of academic excellence coming from prestigious
institutions from India.
2. Generally engineering students have high analytical and reasoning skills because of
the rigorous curriculum they study.
3. The

Choosing the right coaching institute is really important. Consider following factors
while making a decision-
1. Look up records of the coaching institutes for past few years. See if the numbers
are steady or fluctuating too much. If numbers are fluctuating too much it means
that the coaching institute is not able to meet requirement of everyone.
2. VERY IMPORTANT - Talk to the students in the coaching personally and get their
review about it.
See how the coaching treats everyone. A good coaching should give attention to
every student. It is the case in many institutes that toppers are given special
attention while average students are neglected.
There is no problem in giving special attention to toppers but in this process other
students shouldn't been harmed.
3. Location also is a very important factor. See if you will be able to stay in a hostel
for two years and study properly or would prefer coaching in your own city.
4. Research research Research - Do it properly before taking admission in any
coaching institute.

What is the minimum package I can expect after graduating from IITs?
https://ask.shiksha.com/what-is-the-minimum-package-i-can-expect-after-graduating-from-iits-qna-
4293535

The answer would be zero!

Yes it is possible that you won't get placed even after going to IIT.

Many of the newer IITs have decent placements but none has 100 percent placements. So it is
possible that you won't get placed if you waste the four years during your engineering completely.

Assuming that you won't completely waste four years and just be an average student I think you can
expect an average package of around 6 LPA (approx). But lowest package can also be around 3.5-
4LPA for newer IITs.
Again, don't select college based on only placements or package but consider everything right from
your own interest in particular branch to the infrastructure and quality of education provided. If you
are in top IITs you may expect a median salary around 8 LPA.

So if you secure good rank in JEE advance stop worrying about package and start worrying about
where your passion lies and work hard in that particular field . If you are genuinely interested in
what you study and are brilliant you may get phenomenal packages like 1 crore and all. But the
effort you need to put in would also be as high as the package you want.

How are the placements of B.Tech in Civil Engineering from NIT,

NIT Trichy is surely known for its placements and is ranked first among all the NITs for a reason. In
2016 the percentage of total students placed was 96.7 percent. For Civil department it was a 85.3
percent for 2015 and 86.6 percent for 2016. Talking about the companies that visit for recruiting for

Is it necessary to do B.Tech to get into ISRO? Which are the ideal

colleges/branches I should opt for?
https://ask.shiksha.com/is-it-necessary-to-do-b-tech-to-get-into-isro-which-are-the-ideal-colleges-
branches-i-should-opt-for-qna-4293276

I won't say it is necessary to do a B.tech but it would tremendously increase your chances to get into
ISRO.

Best option would be getting into IIST (Indian Institute of Space technology). This institute offers
three courses which are B.tech in Aerospace engineering, B.tech in Avionics and a Five year dual
degree. For getting into IIST one has to appear for JEE mains and JEE advance. The JEE advance
scores are considered for admission into the institute although you should have some minimum
qualifying score in the mains too. Please go through their official website
https://www.iist.ac.in/admissions/undergraduate and read everything about the admission process
in detail. If you get a GPA above 7.5 you don't have to pay any fees for that semester. So practically
you can study for free at IIST. But you have to sign a bond with IIST to work for ISRO for few years.
Everyone has to sign a bond of 5 years of service with ISRO. This is in exchange for the completely
free education IIST provides you (you dont even have to pay for hostel or food, all your internship
and project expenditures are refunded)!

The bond is scary. It can cause problems if you directly want to go for higher education. Plus most
people see the prospect of working in a scientific government setup much less attractive than
working for a consultancy company. Also, every IIT fanboy who hasn't yet joined thinks he will land a
pay package of at least 20 lakhs. Ah, so we've moved to pay issues. Please research in detail about
the admission and the bond.

IITs are also a good alternative to IIST.
