continue to try find the right mix/blend to protect their revenue

National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2013 (Section 937)
Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2013 (Section 305)
In the most simplistic of terms, required Agencies to:
Understand their software asset inventory
Examine current software utilization rates
Achieve cost savings via procurement, usage and optimization methods of
selected software licenses
National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2014 (Section 935)
Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2013 (Section 304)
Takes the FY2013 requirements a step further, mandating Agencies to:
Implement an automated solution capable of reporting software license
compliance position
IBM has recently agreed to accept Flexeras results in lieu of its own
ILMT for compliance reporting requirements making Flexera the only
SLO solution provider to be extended this capability
Are we compliant?
Continuous
Establish governance to continuously and automatically monitor
Compliance and reconcile entitlements utilizing a SKU library and contract

Business Problem - KPMG had an strategic initiative to report to the business their
compliance position across software and hardware.
Challenge - KPMG ITS was looking for a solution that can reduce the effort to deploy
and maintain the tracking of license consumption and increase accuracy, that would
complement their investment in ServiceNows asset management capability with the
introduction of a software recognition library and automated reconciliation of software
titles.
Solution - Flexera enabled the automation of all phases of the Software License
Management Lifecycle and integration was developed between Flexera and
ServiceNow to populate the CMDB with the relevant data to manage the assets
Business Problem - Unable to effectively report on the usage of IBM and Microsoft
products
Solution - Teamed with Deloitte to institute a program that incorporate all aspects of
the software life cycle to have a central point where data is captured, monitored and
processed, allowing for informed business decisions

In 2009, a new, centralized IT department was created integrating IT services for all business
units into one organization
The IT department quickly discovered it inherited the following:
Inconsistent software and asset management methodologies / processes
IT Procurements were not fully leveraged
Software licensing agreements were not aggregated
NGA:
For the very first time, has one, holistic view of its entire network, including both
NIPERNET and SIPERNET
Has visibility into all workstations and servers (both Windows & Linux)
incorporation of both virtual desktop and server data is being finalized
Has hosted briefings & demos for members of the DoD / IC and Capitol Hill

Customer NAVFAC (Naval Facilities)
Initial Business Problem and Challenges:
Shrinking budgets forced IT to review IT resources for areas of cost savings
Software licensing was identified as a logical candidate for potential savings
Software License Management processes were manual and there was no way to
track actual usage
Software License Procurement was highly decentralized
