Initial Business Problem and Challenges:
In 2009, a new, centralized IT department was created integrating IT services for all business
units into one organization
The IT department quickly discovered it inherited the following:
Inconsistent software and asset management methodologies / processes
IT Procurements were not fully leveraged
Software licensing agreements were not aggregated
After Implementing FNMP & FNMEA, Initial Usage:

Revealed 20% of their SAP licenses were shelfware
Reduced an ISVs compliance liability with one vendor by approximately 75%
Reduced a Microsoft true-up from $5m to approximately $300k
Discovered only 500 of 6,000 licensed users were actually utilizing a specific software program
After Continued Incorporation of Flexera Softwares Solutions, NGC:

Built a well-managed, efficient lifecycle documented by policy and procedures to ensure license
compliance, improve utilization, reduce cost and reduce risk for all software and hardware assets

Has visibility into all workstations and servers (both Windows & Linux)
incorporation of both virtual desktop and server data is being finalized
Has hosted briefings & demos for members of the DoD / IC and Capitol Hill
Customer NAVFAC (Naval Facilities)
Shrinking budgets forced IT to review IT resources for areas of cost savings
Software licensing was identified as a logical candidate for potential savings
Software License Management processes were manual and there was no way to
track actual usage
Software License Procurement was highly decentralized
After Implementing FNMEA to Primarily Focus on Managing Autodesks

Concurrent Licenses, NAVFAC was able to:
Reduce its Autodesk concurrent license count from 3,500 to 800
Increase Autodesk user coverage from 2,100 users to 4,500 users
Initially reduce Autodesk annual support from $3.5m to approximately $400k
resulting in savings of $17m over the ensuing 6 years
After the Savings Experienced by NAVFAC on One Software Title:

The US Navy launched a Navy-wide, comprehensive ITAM Initiative
RFI issued in 2011
RFQ issued in August 2013 with award announcement anticipated for October / November
