Well Killing: Well No-Barekuri#3
(27-08-2015 to 19-09-2015: 24 days)
Well Depth= 4032 m, Gas Well, coulnt
stab TSA in the previous workover.
Well was in Shut Condition &
SITP=SICP=1300 psi.
Taken for workover operation for
producing the well.
Started well killing, after pumping 10
bbl of 76 pcf sodium formate solution
pressure rose upto 2000 psi in tbg and
3000 psi in casing. Diverted to OCS.
Pumped a total of 310 bbl (hole volume
= 220bbls) through tbg. Observed
TP=1600 psi and CP= 2200 psi. Well kept
shut in with SITP=3600 psi and
SICP=3600 psi.

Direct bleed line from choke
couldnt be made due to complex
piping arrangement inside EPS &
connected to master separator of

Attempt No:2 ,3 &4 (Forward
circulation)
Forward circulated by following step down chart of psi/bbls of kill fluid pumped keeping BHP
constant by controlling the choke at kill rate of 25 SPM, taking 200 psi as overburden.
Initial pumping showed pressure drop/barrel of fluid pumped as per the chart but after
pumping 10 bbls of 76 pcf soln, though there was pressure drop it was not as per the chart
and after pumping of tubing volume of 63 bbls, 2000 psi in tubing still persisted which should
be 0 & 2490 psi in casing.

Pumping was continued & the pressure inside tubing had fallen to 1800 psi & casing to 2400
psi & then started rising continuously, tubing press=2140 psi & casing 2980 psi. Volume
Pumped 240 bbls.
The pumped rate was increased to 40 SPM, considering pumping tubing volume newly in
continuation. The same phenomenon occurred & after pumping tubing volume observed
pressure of 1900 psi in tubing & casing. The pressure again rose, recorded SITP=2600 psi,
SICP= 2700 psi after pumping of 250 bbls fluid.
The SITP=SICP rose to 3600 psi during mud preparation of 77 pcf. Another attempt was taken
with forward circulation at higher kill rate with a pumper unit but same phenomenon
occurred SITP=3000 psi & SICP=3700 psi was observed after pumping 275 bbls of fluid.

Bleed & Lubricate: Applied non-circulating,
volumetric method by controlled
Casing
migration of influx by bleeding
certain amount of pressure &
lubricating it with certain volume
of kill fluid amounting to
hydrostatic head of the bled
pressure and filling up the hole
with kill fluid thus subduing the
well with same 77 pcf solution.

Observations
Gas Migration/percolation in closed & open
system.
Hydrate formation- Joule-Thompson effect.
Difficulties in handling Gas, condensate &
liquid (mud) together.
