Job number one- Animation Director or Supervisor


Information- the personality type is creative. The departments involve 2D
computer animation | 2D drawn animation | 3D computer animation.
For the job you need

solid animation experience


A good eye
Possess effective communication skills
A good people and project manager
Being able to meet deadlines and to work to a budget
Be able to work as part of the senior creative team
Be able to interpret decisions and to communicate them to the
animation crew
Be able to help the team balance their creative desires with the
requirements of the production

This job involves you to be responsible for the quality of the animation. But the
role of Animation Director may only exist on larger projects and is often
combined with the Director role on smaller productions.
What is needed from them? They interpret the brief from the Director and
other relevant departments. They then guide, supervise and review the work
produced by the Animators and Assistant Animators.

The qualifications needed are-


Animation or art-related degree if you want to become an Animation Director,
(not needed but it would help).

This job does not allow every level entry. So you need the qualifications to be
allowed in.
To become an Animation Director you will usually need to be an established
and experienced Animator. You will also need to demonstrate leadership,
management skills.
Job 2- Animator (2D computer animation)
This job involves

Animation and acting skills, combined with a good sense of graphic


design
A good level of computer literacy
A good working knowledge of relevant graphics, animation and
compositing software, including Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects.
A good understanding of the principles of animation and filmmaking
Knowledge of drawing and structure
To be self-motivated
Able to take direction and willing to address constructive feedback
Able to communicate clearly with colleagues
Able to manage relevant aspects of production
Capacity to work both independently and as part of a team
An appreciation of accuracy and pay close attention to detail
Able to deliver on schedule, working calmly and efficiently under
pressure, if required
Respect for the procedures and requirements of a particular studio or
production
Knowledge of the requirements of the relevant health and safety
legislation and procedures

What do you need to do? For animation, animators do everything relating to


their scenes, including plotting the camera moves, editing the soundtrack (if
required), charting information on dope sheets and producing a composited
version of their work for comments from the Director or Animation Director.

In principle, the role of Animator is the same for all techniques of animation;
the differences are in the tools used and in some of the skills required. Most
professional 2D computer animation work in the UK is produced on one of two
packages, either Flash or CelAction.

What are the qualifications? The qualifications are to be a 2D computer


animator is a film or illustration degree and personal work demonstrating
animation talent and an understanding of filmmaking can be a useful addition
and could help you get an Animator job without having a degree.
Job 3- 3D animator computer animation

What does the job involve?

A feel for movement and timing


Possess creative and artistic qualities, along with the appropriate
technical skills
Observational skills and acting talent, for character work
Good communication skills
good team-working skills
Good organizational skills
Pay close attention to detail
Able to take direction

What do you need to do? You will produce images which, when recorded in
sequence and projected, create the illusion of movement. In character
animation, they may be cast, like actors, for their special talents - comedy,
dialogue, song and dance, action, men, women, children, animals, simplicity,
etc. On other projects, they may be selected for their particular technical skills
and ability.

In principle, the role of Animator is the same for all techniques of animation.
The differences are in the tools used, and in some of the skills required.

What qualifications do you need? To do this job you will need gain a degree in
computer animation, computer science or similar, or in an art-related subject,
(optional but it will help).
