COURSE OBJECTIVES

To know the basic types of open channel flow and various hydraulic engineering problems related to
1.
Uniform flow in open channels.
2. To determine the profile classifications of flow for Gradually Varied Flow in open channels.
3. To apply the basic equations for Rapidly Varied Flow in open channels.
4. To classify and design the hydraulic parameters of Turbines.
5. To design the hydraulic parameters of Pumps.

COURSE OUTCOME

At the end of the course, Students are able to

1. Explain the types of Open channel flow.


2. Design the most economical section for uniform flow.
3. Determine the flow profile for Gradually Varied Flow.
4. Apply the energy and momentum equation for Rapidly Varied Flow.
5. Design the hydraulic jump.
6. Classify the various Turbines and design their hydraulic parameters.
7. Understand the working principle of Pumps and design their hydraulic parameters.
