The one who dreams

Dreams are just illusions if not acted upon

My name is Romeo Jose V. Pinoon and I live in Coron, Palawan.

I was named before my two grandpa, Romeo was derived from my father side

while Jose was from my mother side. I am the youngest sibling of Clemen V. Pinoon
and Richard V. Pinoon. I have four other siblings which are (oldest to youngest):

Ma. Angelica Pinoon-Ducado, Ma. Pia Rose V. Pinoon, Kristo Khalil V. Pinoon and
Patricia Rose V. Pinoon. I actually grow up without the presence of a father, although I
grow up with a single parent, my mom, works hard as much to see us succeed and be
happy with our lives. She was very supportive but she set a loose hand on us, as she
believe, we her siblings will never do wrong because as we grow up and as I have seen
from my sisters, we learn to discipline ourselves and teach ourselves so we can decide
for our own what is right or wrong and what could be the things fit for us to make
ourselves better and also she taught us that to rule with an iron fist will only make a
rebel.

Education Background

ELEMENTARY

Starting from kindergarten I was enrolled at the same school, that is because my
mom works as a faculty member at the school I was in, it is a smart move so she can
watch closely on us. I dont strive for achievements ever, if I know that I can reach an
achievement I will only put my mind to it and I can reach that goal. Like this one time
when I was grade three my mom excite me with a prize that when I reach a certain top
in the class she will buy me anything I want, so from the average level in the class I
reached top 5 and I got myself a lunchbox, then I was top 6 later that period and after
the dare I get back again on the average level of the class, thats because as long as I
know that I can do things I mostly use what I got to reach a goal as long as I feel like it
was needed.

I have a friend, a really close one that I can count on since my kindergarten days.
The fun thing was our mothers are also faculty members at our school. So we are really
close because are are always together in our class from the whole elementary days, we
do stuff together usually making our class laugh together and other stuff like, we pick
tadpoles from the creek and put it on a glass bottle of soda and just watch it swim
there.

We used to do stuff like this but not until high-school, of course we are mature enough
to understand that things like those are child's play. The only achievements I
remembered from my elementary days was, I was the president of the class when I was
grade 6, I was chosen by the class to represent to the Mr. Earth for the earth day event
of our school and I won the 1st runner up and they gave me an award for the best
speech.

HIGHSCHOOL

I was enrolled at the same school again. On the first year as I said I dont always strive
for achievements but my mom lured me with a promise of a cellphone if I got again in
the top 10, on the whole batch of my first year, I was top 9 that period I dont have
consistency because for me, I cant enjoy my highschool life fully if I only focused to my
studies. Things start to change when I was exposed to new friends, and of course I was
influenced by their beliefs which is mostly good. Some of those friends make me do
things like, they make me taste alcohol and cigarette for the first time which I dislike
both, their reason behind the cigarette was because it is a stress reliever or something
which in my opinion was absurd in a way that, to corrupt your health with a smoke stick
for stress relieving purposes, why not eradicate those stress in other extra curricular
activities like mine was playing computer games, climbing on mountains,
express/contemplate myself with the beauty of nature and to hang out and laugh with
my friends. Other things also changed, my voice got bigger, hairs started to sprout
from certain spots and I became more sensitive. I was one of the fastest in our batch so
I tried to compete in athletics in our intramurals. When I was fourth year I joined the
school band, I was playing a saxophone it was a soprano and somehow manage to play
good. As I graduate I automatically given a loyalty award for staying with the school
from kindergarten to highschool.

COLLEGE

Take this as a note, if somebody says they choose petroleum engineering because
its their dream expect it as a lie, I choose Petroleum engineering because of three
reasons: it was one of the top high paying careers out there, my mom influenced me to
pick it as my profession and engineering was top choice I have in my ENCAI test result,
and with these three reason I somehow convinced myself that I got a shot for this, so
this is why I choose Petroleum engineering. One of many expectations I have was the
challenges in this course can easily fit to my understanding, but I didnt expect it to be
this hard, these challenges taught me that I must adapt to overcome these challenges. I
expect that this course will be the core of who I am in the future like my whole future is
at stake if I didnt took this course at high priority, and lastly I expect with all the
hardships after I graduate that I could have a stable job in the industry and to fulfill
what my mom wants such as going abroad and to upgrade our house. I know in myself
that I can survive this course as long as my mind was into it then I know that I can be
the future engineer I was working hard to be.
All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty
recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was vanity. But the
dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act on their dreams with
open eyes, to make them possible
