Van De Meutter Math 7 Course Outline 2017/2018

GENERAL COURSE OBJECTIVES/GOALS

The aim of the mathematics program is to have students develop the


understandings and abilities necessary to be confident and competent in thinking
and working mathematically in their daily activities and ongoing learning and work
experiences. The K-12 mathematics program is intended to stimulate the spirit of
inquiry within the context of mathematical thinking and reasoning.

ASSESSMENT

Course Topics each of these topics will have a summative assessment and a
variety of formative assessments.

Outcomes will be assessed on an individual basis using the four point scale. No
overall class mark will be issued.

In order to write the final assessment for the unit, the unit work must be
completed.
If you do not earn a 3 or higher on an assessmentyou will be in my room for
two noon hours after the original assessment for extra practice before
reassessing. If you still do not achieve a 3 or higher then you will be writing
that outcome during final exams in June.

GENERAL EXPECTATIONS AND GUIDELINES

1. Bring your binder, text, pen, pencil, eraser, and calculator to class each day.

2. Keep all handouts with your notes and keep your binder in chronological order.
: notes and examples can be recorded in pen.
: all assessments are to be completed neatly in pencil.

3. Outcome tests will be announced well in advance of the test date.


: if you know that you will be absent on the day of a test, you are expected
to inform the teacher ahead of time.
: if you are unexpectedly absent on the day of a test, you will write the test
the day you return to class at noon hour.

4. You are responsible for getting and completing all the work that was missed if
you are absent for any reason. If you need help, just ask.

5. Do not be late!!!
: get to class, be seated, open your books, and be ready to work.
: if you arrive after the bell, you will be considered late.

6. Participate in classroom discussions and do not be afraid to ask questions.

7. Respect the rights of others at all times.

8. Cells phones are not allowed in the classroom.
