1.

EARLY MARRIAGE
a. Child marriage, defined as a formal marriage or informal union before age 18, is a reality for both
boys and girls, although girls are disproportionately the most affected. Child marriage is
widespread and can lead to a lifetime of disadvantage and deprivation.
b. Early marriage, or child marriage, is defined as the marriage or union between two people in which
one or both parties are younger than 18 years of age. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights
recognizes the right to free and full consent to a marriage, acknowledging that consent cannot
be free and full when one of the individuals involved is not sufficiently mature to make an
informed decision about a life partner.
c. Early Marriage Threatens Youth Reproductive Health
i. Spousal age difference can make women more vulnerable to health risks and social
isolation by creating power dynamics.
ii. Early childbearing poses serious health risks for mother and child.
2. LIVE-IN PARTNER
a. live-in - A live-in partner is someone who lives in the same house as the person they are having a
sexual relationship with, but is not married to them.
i. Although there is no legal definition of living together, it generally means to live together
as a couple without being married.
b. You can formalise aspects of your status with a partner by drawing up a legal agreement called a
cohabitation contract or living together agreement. A living together agreement outlines the rights
and obligations of each partner towards each other. It is not clear whether living together
agreements are legally enforceable but they can be useful to remind a couple of their original
intentions. In practice, instead of a living together agreement, or as well as, it's possible to make a
series of legally enforceable agreements on specific matters, for example, how a jointly-owned
house is shared. If you want to do this, you will need legal advice.
3. SAME-SEX MARRIAGE
a. Same-sex marriage is also known as gay marriage or a homosexual marriage. This kind of marriage
is a ceremonial union of two people of the same sex; a marriage or marriage-like relationship
between two women or two men. The United States government and most other American states
do not recognize such marriages, even if legally contracted. Therefore, couples do not acquire the
legal status of spouses, yet they have successfully challenged the laws against same-sex marriage.
4. PRE-ARRANGED MARRIAGE
a. A marriage arranged by someone other than the couple, which essentially eliminatescourtship. T
hey are most common in Hindu and Muslim countries.
b. The actual definition of an arranged marriage is a marriage that is established before a lengthy
relationship.(1) So in a sense, it is the opposite to a love marriage, where marriage would be
considered the final step to solidating the relationship.
c. In an arranged marriage, the marital partners are chosen by
parents, community elders, matchmakers, or religious leaders in an effort to guide young people
through the process of finding the right person to marry.
d. Arranged marriages worldwide encompass a wide variety of procedures, cultural customs, length
of courtship, as well as the practical and spiritual reasons for the matching of the partners.
