1. Communication skills. Stuart Reedman of Arabon Accounting & Financial Services recommends
building up people-skills by working in a call center or doing amateur stand up performance (S.
Reedman, personal interview, August 30, 2017).
2.Technology ability. The accounting sector is increasing focused on technology with the rise of
automated compliance and bookkeeping software.
3.Teamwork. All accounting practices rely on the combined knowledge of employees
specialization in areas like SMSF, regulatory compliance, or income tax. Therefore, team work is
crucial for day-to-day operations.
4. Time management. Accountants have large workloads and an forever increasing amount of
clients due to technology. This is especially true for CPAs and CAs who are in high demand by
clients.
