Classroom News

The school year at Riverstone Public School is Important Dates

A reminder supervision begins at 8:00am, with
(Muskoseepi Park time TBA)
the morning bell at 8:10am, classes begin at
Sept. 24 Family Movie - Fundraiser
8:20am. Students are to line up by the Gr. 3
Sept. 28 Sports Jersey Day
doors at the end of the school by Willow Drive.
If your child is later than 8:20am they are to
report to the office to get a late slip.

You are also invited to attend the Meet the


Teacher Night with your family on Thursday,
September 14 from 6:30 7:30pm. Your child
may show you around our classroom at this time.
Star of the Week
Parents are also welcome to attend the first
School Council General Meeting on Wednesday, Each student will have a turn being star

Students are learning about I PICK books
and choosing an appropriate book which is September 3 Brielle Garbitt
a Good Fit for them. They will be

building their stamina for Reading to
Self and Reading to Someone during
language arts. Students will be focusing
on the comprehension reading strategy,
Check for Understanding. Social Studies

Writing
Students will have daily practice
reviewing proper printing. Next month we
will begin to learn writing cursive letters.
Students will write lists, reading
responses to books theyve read, and
begin journal writing. Students will begin the year developing
skills of geographic thinking which include:

Using a map to locate communities


Math studied this year
Using cardinal and intermediate
Students will be collecting, displaying and
directions on a map and globe
analyzing data to solve problems.
