TEMPLE, TRADE AND URBANIZATION

INTRODUCTION
We, the students of Shyam Lal (eve.) College are presenting this proposal for the 'Gyanodaya IV',
themed 'Urbanization; Now and Then'. We have chosen the focus of our vision of Gyanodaya to be
'Temple, Trade and Urbanization', as these three aspects are co-related to each other and we would like
to explore more on this link.

OBJECTIVES
To visit the temples of central India, which had been a symbol of our tradition and cultural
heritage for a long time

To Understand how the trade of various industries such as silk, diamond etc. work and help to
improve the quality of society at various levels.

Further to study how these trades has led to the betterment of the region in terms of social,
political and economic aspects of a region

Finally, to understand what is the link between these three aspects by roaming these cities
which are now a model of rapid urbanization, at the same time, hold fast of their traditional past.

SIGNIFICANCE
Through this project, we will be able to highlight the major issues which work behind urbanization.
This project will not only help the students to explore the treasures of culture heritage, but also the
trade traditions and the legacy of urbanization that how some small cities became one of the best
developed cities of India through adopting new and improved trade practices, at the same time also
preserving the long traditions for which the country was once well known in the world
