Hello, I am Obakeng Jackens molefe a 19 year old first year student at Tshwane University of
technology; I went to Thushanang combined school and finished my matric at Lehlabile
secondary school and now I am in persuasion for a B.Ed. (FET) Specialisation in
management sciences And this is my portfolio.

WHY I CHOSE TEACHING

Out of many courses that I could choose, I chose teaching because I believe thats where my
full potential can be unleashed and I have a strong desire to positively influence and educate
children, after I finished my Grade 12 I took a gap year but I did not sit home and do nothing,
instead I did a short course and volunteered to help learners with homework and also helped
underperforming learners to improve. the learners excelled, this gave me an interest in
teaching, I started to research about teaching requirements and skills needed, most of them
matched with my abilities, I continued to research where can I study or persuade a teaching
career thats when I came across Tshwane university of technology, I was so excited because
I qualified for the course at tut, this gave an oomph to apply for the course, and luckily I got
accepted, teaching needs patience and I have patience, I have the ability to explain something
to someone until she/he understand it thats why I chose teaching

ACHIEVEMENTS

Besides my national senior certificate there are other achievements I have obtained during my
years at high school and my gap year, I have been elected as a class rep for 2014 when I was
doing my grade 11 at Lehlabile Secondary school, I participated in Finance and Investment
Olympiad sponsored by University of Johannesburg for Grade 12 potential learners in 2015,
and I achieved good grades and I was awarded a certificate of achievement, in 2016 when
was in my gap year I enrolled for a short computer course at University Of Pretoria and I
completed the course then I was awarded certificate.

At TUT I did activities that equipped me with enough knowledge in every subject and from
those activities I now know and understand important concepts of all the subjects I am going
to teach, of which makes me a subject specialist.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

During my teaching practical, there are things that I have experienced in teaching and out that
experience I now know and understand teaching from its roots, I now know that as a teacher
you have to be a very patient person, know how to think critically, avoid slander and
discriminative language and encourage every learners participation in every activity, always
make a lesson plan to avoid wasting time and doing what is not required of you according to
syllabus.

TECHNOLOGY IN THE CLASSROOM

In Lehlabile sec school grade 12s where given tablets to use when doing research or anything
that needed internet, it was quiet difficult to teach them with tablets because some of the
features in the tablet were confusing for some learners but then it went well went mentor
teacher demonstrated everything to them.

MY GOALS

I want to achieve my B.Ed. and become the best recognised teacher in the
globe/internationally and I believe I will achieve that through hard work and dedication.

My goal is not only to achieve the degree but to develop and master the basic teaching skills,
management skills, leadership skills and motivational skills and be able to unlock the
potential that all learners have, I also want to be able to make learners behave without giving
them harsh and negative punishment, thank you I hope you enjoyed my portfolio.
