Aim : To ensure the material received is as per the specifications given in P.

O &
drawing or from customer.
Scope : All incoming material/machined Components/Hardware, sub assemblies.
Responsibility :
Store Incharge.
QC Engineer.

Procedure: On receipt of material purchase section will co-ordinate with Q.C to get
it checked as per the following instructions.

1. Plates, Pipes and Tubes.:

a) Check material is as per material code mentioned in P.O.

b) The material should be free from visual detects like rust , pitting,
laminations, cracks etc.
c) Dimensional Inspections of plate, tube material Ensure length, width,
and thickness for plates, Nominal bore & wall thickness for tube is as per
requirement.
d) Test piece marking on plate for physical and chemical testing if required.
e) Arranging for test if required.
f) Verification of test results by comparing with Specification Standards.
g) Co-relate with manufactures Test Certificate.
h) UT to be carried out if required.
i) Processing of O.K. Plate/Pipe/Tube Material as per process sheet.

2. Flanges:

1. Flanges shall be inspected along with their test certificates and purchase
Order.
2. Flanges shall be inspected for size, thickness, diameters, P.C.D., Number
of holes, hole size, etc.
3. Over all surfaces shall be inspected visually for damages, irregularities.
4. Quantity to be checked.

3. Miscellaneous items :

1. Shall be inspected along with their Test Certificate and P.O. requirements .
2. Shall be inspected for size.
3. Surface checked for inclusions, laminations, and irregularities.
4. Test sample is taken for physical and chemical test if required.
4. Nuts & Bolts:

1. Nuts and Bolts shall be inspected along with their Test Certificate and P.O.
requirements .

5. Preservation of material:

1. For Plate - To prevent from corrosion plate shall be stacked on wooden

pallets / block.
2. For flanges To prevent from corrosion flanges shall be stacked on
wooden pallets / block and covered with tarpaulin. If flanges to be stored
more than six months preservative shall be applied to avoid further
detoriation.
3. For miscellaneous item (galvanized / painted ) To prevent from damages
galvanized / painted miscellaneous items shall be kept on pallet & covered
with tarpaulin.

6. Traceability:

1. Traceability shall be recorded according to the numbers punched on the

plates/flanges & to be verified with mill tc .
