Introduction to Microsoft, keyboarding, iMovie,
Photoshop and Bootstrap

Course Description: Computer courses curriculum are designed to provide an understanding of Microsof
Office; Word, Power Point, and Excel; including how to use computers, how to access information in the World
Wide Web and very important to acquire keyboarding skills and learn to type more than 25 words per minute.
Students will also be introduced to iMovie, Photoshop and basic coding (computer programming). Students are
held responsible for high academic rigor, analysis, critical thinking, and communicate their computational
(technology) findings in writing and/or oral presentations in a clear and convincing manner. Each of the
following standards of:
Digital citizenship
Netiquettes
Reason abstractly and quantitatively
Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others
Use appropriate tools strategically
Look for and make use of structure

Classroom Instruction and Group Work: Students will work in collaborative groups and/or individual on a
regular basis and approach problems conceptually.

Classwork: Students will be assigned journal, keyboarding practice and work on project and or
Bootstrap/Scratch/Code.org, Microsof office, iMovie, Photoshop on a daily basis, and they are expected to
have it ready and complete on assigned date for full credit. Every Friday student will be quizzed on their
keyboarding skills. The only way students will master the concepts is by being actively involved in the learning.
I will be responsible for guiding, supporting, and summarizing at all times. Classwork not completed in class
will become homework and student must find additional time to work on the lab.
Be ready to justify your work.

Student Assessments: Assessments will be given in the form of projects, written/interactive assessment and
may include multiple choice, short answer and extended response questions. This is a balanced program
where skill development is based upon practicing to acquire mastering and understanding of the concepts.
Students will demonstrate their understanding through team/individual PROJECTS and/or individual tests.

Textbook:
Any resource pages or links used in class will also be available in the class web page
(http:laupadilla.weebly.co) for students who have missed class.

Classroom Supplies: The following materials are recommended to have before the first week of school ends.
- Folder - School Agenda (blk 1 TE) * earphones/headphones
Attendance: Attendance is required in accordance with Calexico Unified School Districts policy. To be
successful in this course, regular attendance is expected. If absent, it is the students responsibility to obtain
and complete all missing assignments and tests.
Progress Reports: Synergy will be used by all teachers. The program provides parents and students immediate
access to student progress and grade reports for all classes. Passwords will be issued to parents and students.
In addition, Technology progress reports will be handed out when student request it to take home for
parent signatures, and must be returned to me the following day. Parents are responsible for revising their
son/daughter progress (GRADES) through Synergy. If parents feel the need to contact teacher feel free to
contact me via e-mail, phone call, schedule an appointment or leave message on our class web page.

District Grading Policy: Grade will be weighed as follows:

Keyboarding: Grades are based on words per minutes (wpm). Keyboard grading scale will change
quarterly.

Tutoring:
I will be available for tutoring upon request. Student must schedule tutoring time in advance. Come to
tutoring prepared; know in advanced on what concept they are struggling; ready to ask questions about
the classwork/project assignments.
