Dear Ms. Knapp,

I am writing in regards to your recent posting for a Director of Advancement Talent Management. The
details of your posting suggest to me that the position will utilize the experience I have gained over the
last 11 years while working within Advancement at Worcester State University. My deep
understanding of all aspects of Advancement provides a solid foundation for this position.

During my employment with Worcester State University I have relied on my strong work ethic and
attention to detail to successfully maintain positions at varying levels within Advancement. For
example, l manage the Raisers Edge database and am driven to constantly monitor both the integrity
of the data we collect and the way in which we use it.

I am in charge of a small Advancement Services team, which requires strong project management
skills, as well the ability to show empathy and understanding to those I manage. My work does require
independent thought, however there is collaboration with various departments across campus within
my job responsibilities and within the many campus committees I am part of.

My ability to analyze the data allows for divisional goals to be implemented. This correlation of the
Advancement goals to that of the University Strategic plan is required to adapt to the changing needs
of our university.

I believe in continuing to challenge myself both personally and professionally. After receiving my
Undergraduate in both Psychology and Communication, I have started on a track toward my MBA. In
addition, my educational background includes computer oriented training, graphics, and web design.
This led to my years as both a Quality Assurance Analyst and Business Analyst for web based
products. This previous training has been useful in developing new reporting and policies for
University Advancement.

My eagerness to continue to learn and grow is what I believe to be my biggest asset, as my focus is
always on opportunities to better myself and my organization. This is also a facet that would benefit
the Director of Advancement Talent Management position.

My education and the experience of my 11 years in progressive levels of leadership in Advancement at


Worcester State University makes me a unique and strong candidate for the position. Thank you for
