Job description:

Steer Davies Gleave is managing a Personal Travel Planning team in the West of England
Authorities (South Gloucestershire, Bristol, Bath and North Somerset). This project is
part of the Sustainable Transport Transition Year (STTY) funded TravelWest programme.

The Project Coordinator will be required to support the Team Manager, and the Travel
Outreach Officers, by performing back office duties such as data entry and customer
satisfaction telephone surveys, data collation for reporting, managing databases and
responding to customer enquiries. They will also be responsible for managing the loan
bike scheme which will include contacting people who are interested in loaning a bike,
showing people how the bikes work when they come to collect the loan bike, and
booking a mechanic to service the bikes. Good IT skills, the ability to co-ordinate with
other people including customers, and a flexible approach are essential.

Alongside the office role we are looking for someone who will also attend events as a
Travel Outreach Officer (TOO). TOOs are part of a skilled team who engage with the
public and encourage people to travel in a more sustainable way, by offering tailored
advice and information to help them plan and make their journeys by bus, train,
walking, cycling or car sharing.

An ability to work in a variety of settings and to be mobile is essential, as are good


listening skills and the ability to converse with a diverse audience. Knowledge of the
local area and an interest in encouraging others to travel by active and sustainable
means is desirable.

Accountabilities
I Data entry and filing;

I Customer satisfaction telephone and online surveys;

I Responding to customer enquiries, particularly by phone or email;

I Collating and sending out the weekly report as well as data collation for the monthly
report. Data collation including graphs, tables, customer feedback, explanations of
negative feedback etc. for the quarterly report;

I Creating logistics and preparing packs and other materials for events;

I Managing and amending the databases and compiling case studies;

I Managing the loan bike fleet. This includes managing the databases, carrying out
basic maintenance of loan bikes (pumping tyres, adjusting saddles and maybe fitting
lights), and booking mechanics to carry out servicing;

I Co-ordinating loan bikes for customers. This means meeting customers face to face
explain how the bikes work and answering any questions; and

I Assisting with other work as required by the Team Manager. Covering the Team
Manager in their absence, managing the TOOs workload and making decisions.

Person Specification

We would welcome applications from you if you have the following:

I Accurate and speedy data entry

I Experience of using Microsoft Office programmes

I Experience of using Excel to a high standard

I Good customer service skills via phone, email and in person

I Good written and verbal communication skills including the ability to listen

I Experience of telephone survey work (desirable)

I Ability to prioritise workload and be flexible

I Good organisational skills

I Excellent attention to detail

I A willingness to work outdoors, in the evenings and on weekends, and generally be


mobile

I Good customer service skills

I Knowledge of bike setup and gears and brakes

I Ability to work on own initiative, and as part of a team

I A flexible approach to working hours and tasks

I A passion for helping people and improving the local environment

I A driving licence
