COURSE SYNOPSIS :

This course discuss the fundamental principles of conservation biology, covering topics
including the relationship between biotic and abiotic components of ecosystems. Application of
ethics on environmental management and best practices in conservation are also discussed.

LEARNING OUTCOMES :
1. Understand the principle of conservation and identify the current condition of
ecosystems by recognizing the biotic and abiotic factors in the environment and their
role for conservation (C2)
1
2. Relate the ecosystems and demands (C6)
3. Develop suggestions of best practices (P5)
4. Educate the publics to participate on conservations effort (A4,LL2)
5. Apply ethics on handling ecosystems and Apply critical thinking skills to justify the needs
of conservation and understand the responsibility of each individual in achieving the
needs (EM2, CT3, TS3)
