&Assignments

ANY WORK THAT IS NOT PLACED IN THE TRAY WILL NOT BE GRADED!
According to the WCPSS board policy, school work will be made up for excused absences under the
following conditions:
1.) If the absence is approved in advance and/or if the work is assigned by the teacher in advance, all make-up
work, including tests assigned for the day of return, is due upon the student's return to school. Teachers should
use discretion and may make exceptions in the case of students whose excused absences were not planned in
advance, were beyond the students control, and the nature of which would not support make-up work the day of
return. The student is responsible for securing make-up work at the secondary level.
Projects are designed to continuously improve student's learning.
Projects
Most projects have a writing component to support the global movement of writing in the curriculum.
Each student should consult the HW Calendar and complete all assignments, so that homework can be
stamped and discussed on a daily basis for the benefit of the student.
Homework
At the beginning of each class, your homework and stamp page should be on your desk.
Late classwork will be accepted for a maximum of 50% credit.
Unit Tests are given at the end of each unit with cumulative concepts that reflect material covered in class.
Quizzes will be given on a weekly basis. Please be prepared for Pop Quizzes. Any topic/concept that has
been covered prior to the quiz/test is fair game for the quiz/test, even if it is from an earlier unit or math
course.
Quiz Grade Recovery The 50 Club = Any Quiz > 50 may be replaced with a higher Unit Test grade
within the same unit. (Except on a QUEST which is a Quiz & Test combined.)
Unit Test &
Quiz
(At the end of each quarter, the lowest quiz grade will be dropped.)
In order to give each student the best possible learning experience, it is imperative that all parties are held accountable for
Recovery
success (or failure) in the classroom. Responsibility falls on each student, their parents, and their team of teachers. We
understand that a student may struggle to master some concepts in a timely manner. Therefore, our Academic Recovery
Process is accessible to all students and offered when:
the student is attending class on a regular basis
the student has given sufficient first effort on assignments
the student completes recovery in a timely manner
Test Grade Recovery: Student will be allowed up to one week after a Test has been returned to
demonstrate mastery. Students will receive the average of the two test grades not to exceed a 70%.
Extra Credit Butterfly sticker points will be added to One Quiz grade at the end of each quarter.
While I am teaching, there should be no talking unless I say otherwise. Side conversations are not
Note Taking
appropriate for the classroom. In other words, NO TALKING WHEN I AM TALKING! If you would like to
& Courtesy
ask or answer a question, please raise your hand and wait to be called upon.
Assignments are due the day before or the morning of a pre-planned Absence / Field Trip. Anyone checking
Due Dates into school after math class will need to turn in assignments by the end of the school day. Consult the
website, HW Calendar, or Classroom Agenda for current information. (Late work will receive pts deducted)
Any Quiz/Unit Test missed as a result of an Excused absence should be completed the next day in class or
a pre arranged appointment date with the teacher. For an absence to be excused, the student must show
Ms. J. Blackwell an excused note from attendance within two days of returning to school.
Make-up
Consult HW Calendar and/or a classmate for missed assignments. You are responsible for asking for
Work
missed assignments and for getting notes from another student for days you are absent.

original grade. This does not include projects or assessments.
