WelcometotheTataMedicalCenter,Kolkata.TheTataMedicalCenterisaphilanthropichospitalofthehighest
quality from the House of Tata. We welcome patients from any part of India and abroad, and of any
socioeconomic background. This is primarily a cancer hospital, although we do see and treat some non
malignantblooddisorderswherebonemarrowtransplantationisatreatmentoption.

Makinganappointment

OutpatientappointmentswillstartfromMonday,May30,2011forseveralspecialties.

We encourage all patients to make an appointment prior to their first visit by telephone at (033) 6605
7222orbysendinganemailrequesttoappointment@tmckolkata.com. Patients on their first visit can be
seenwithoutanappointmentupontheavailabilityofatimeslotintheappropriateoutpatientclinic.


Patients are required to either bring with them a referral letter from their physician or their cancer reports.
Patients with confirmed cancer reports can book an appointment for consultation / treatment without a referral
letter.

Please bring all relevant medical documents such as reports, Xray plates, pathology slides and blocks along
withareferralletterfromyourtreatingdoctor/institution.

It is advisable for patients to be accompanied by a responsible person who can assist with formalities in the
hospitalaswellashelpmakedecisions.

Patients are required to complete the Personal Particulars Form with personal and demographic details.
PatientswillbegivenaregistrationcarduponthesubmissionofthecompletedPersonalParticularsFormatthe
Registrationcounter.PatientsareadvisedtokeeptheRegistrationCardsafely.Informationonappointmenttime
andotherrelevantdetailscanthenbeobtainedfromthereceptioncounter.

RegistrationCategories
PatientsmaychosetoregisterasaGeneralorPrivatepatientdependingupontheirfinancialcapacitytopayfor
the services. Patients are advised to make an informed choice as transfer from one category to another is not
permittedfrequently.AsocialworkerattheEnquiry/RegistrationCounterwillassistwiththisprocess.

Patients in the Private category will always be seen by a consultant doctor. Private ward patients will have
separate waiting areas and payment queues. For certain investigations and services they will get priority.
Patientsseekingconsultationbyaspecificdoctorwillneedtoregisterundertheprivatecategory.

 NodistinctionwillbemadeinthequalityoftreatmentbetweenGeneralandPrivatecategorypatients.

DiscountedorFreetreatment
TataMedicalCentertreatsgeneralcategorypatientsatnoprofit.Inadditionthehospitaldoeshavetheprovision
fordiscountedandfreetreatmentforservicesprovidedwithinthehospitalforpoorpatients.Thisappliesonlyfor
patientswhohaveregisteredwithinthegeneralcategory.Someprotocols,medicinesandconsumablesarenot
free.

Patients seeking treatment for free or at a subsidized rate are required to a submit a written application along
with documents to prove their financial status. A social worker will assist with this process. The decision of
theseapplicationswillbemadebythephysicianassignedtotreatthepatientandasocialworker.

Please contact TMCs social worker for financial assistance for medicines and other costs that are not covered
byTMC.

PaymentProcess
Paymentisacceptedatpaymentcounterslocatedatseveralplacesacrossthehospital.Paymentisaccepted
bycash,demanddraft,andcredit/debitcard.

Payments are required to be made in advance for outpatient services. An advance deposit will be required for
inpatientadmissions.Paymentsforbillsarerequiredtobeclearedfortreatmentwithinaweektocontinuewith
thetreatment.

Our payment counter staff will be able to assist patients whose employers have a credit facility with the Tata
MedicalCenter.
