Concrete is the most commonly used material for structural purpose such as beam, foundation, column stump,
column in the construction field today. Thus, concrete must be able to carry the load of the building. The
reasons of carry out the cube compressive strength test it is commonly assumed that most of the important
properties of concrete are directly related to the compressive strength. The structural design codes are based
mainly on the compressive strength of concrete, and the test is easy and relative inexpensive to carry out. For
this test is to determine the strength of concrete and compression strength test is carried out using cube test. By
conduction this test, it can help to find out the suitability of concrete to be used according to the ratio of
concrete mixture for any construction project.
Material
1. 3600g Portland Cement
2. 9600g of fine aggregates (sand)
3. 12000g of coarse aggregates

3.) All the material namely Portland cement , Sand and coarse Aggregates were placed in the layer
form , beginning with the Coarse Aggregates, Sand and finally Portland Cement.

4.) All the dry mix were started to mix together into a pile by using the shovel and the steps were
repeated until the dry mix turn a uniform color.
5.) Water with the cement ratio was added to the mixes.
6.) The concrete mold with size of 150mm x 150mm was applied with some oil on the internal and
external surface of the concrete mold and then transferred the mixes to the mold.
Figure 17
7.) The concrete was filled into the concrete mold to 3 layers and compacted the layer of concrete
thoroughly by the whole surface area with the tamping rod between 35 to 40 times.
Figure 18
8.) The surplus concrete above the top of the mold was removed by using the concrete trowel and the
surrounding was cleared.
9.) Procedures 1 to 8 was repeated for 1:2:4 and 1:6:0 concrete mixes with the constant cement ratio
which is 0.6.

10.) After 24 hours, the specimens for 3 concrete cube were removed from the concrete mold and
then cure them in the water tank
11.) After 14 days, the cube were taken out from the water and get ready for the cube compressive
strength test.
