I am the first child of a six-membered family.

My mother is a
housekeeper and my father works as a distributor for a bakery company. I
have plentiful experiences as part-time worker. As a kid, I was helping
my parents at our show factory. Later, when they closed it and my father
worked as a bread distributor, I was going with him at work waking up at
3 a.m. When I was a teenager I worked as a waiter from my sixteen to
eighteen when I had to quit since I was about to start my military service.
After that, during university I was working also in various restaurants and
nightclubs. Those experiences are very important to me because I was
making my own money from a very young age and I during my
adolescence I was financially independent.
When I finished my two-year compulsory military service in 2011 I
decided that I wanted to attend to University of Cyprus and study
Political Science. I re-sit the entrance exams and with a grade of 18,92/20
I was admitted in the programme and I attended in 2013. I liked the
courses, especially those of political theory because we were taught about
human nature and how people formed societies and social institutions.
The essence of political theory was the reason why I chose to study
Political Science as I wanted to learn more about human nature and
understand how the world woks.
My turn to economic interests was during an obligatory course, in the
third semester, Basic Principles of Political Economy. We study Marxs
Capital and then we used his principles to understand the economic crisis
of 2007. At that time, I discovered my interest in economic relations. So,
besides my normal study at university, I started reading about economics,
at first I started with The Intelligent Investor, and now I am reading
Misess Human Action.

The reason for applying for the PPE- Political Economy is that I want to
gain an in-depth knowledge about human action in the economy. I am
about to obtain my Bachelor in Political Sciences and I want to learn how
political decisions affect economic relations. My main area of interest is
Economics (How people act? What are their motives to action? Why and
how crises are emerging? Etc...). I hope this programme will provide me
the knowledge of the foundation of economics where I can build my later
career on it. I consider the knowledge that I will attain from this
programme very important because it will be the philosophical base for
my later decision making. I believe that every person who deals with
business or is in public life must understand the world around him and
know what different areas involve before deciding. That is why I feel that
this programme is very important for me.
After my graduation, I plan to work in either the financial sector, or go
for internships that deal with economic research and understanding of
human behaviour in an economy, or working in policy making
institutions in EU or in my country. Whatever my job will be, I want to
gain as much experience I can. After some years of working experience, I
plan to apply to a reputable business school for an MBA concentrating in
Marketing, to attain experience in management.
