Southcliff Fine Arts Studio

MISSION STATEMENT
The Worship Fine Arts Studio is a ministry of Southcliff Baptist Church Worship Ministry.
It supports the Worship strategy in various ways, including and not limited to:

Providing excellent Christian instruction in art and the musical arts for all generations and
backgrounds in an encouraging
environment.
Developing future worship leaders
Providing opportunities for student
participation in ensemble and various
programs.
It is our desire to provide the best in fine arts instruction in a Christian environment. We are
dedicated to creating an atmosphere of learning where students can discover and develop their
musical gifts, grow spiritually and use their talents to glorify God.
With the understanding that this is our focus each student will be responsible for playing or
participating in one aspect of worship at Southcliff during the fall or spring
semesters.

ENROLLMENT AND INSTRUCTION

Private study is offered in piano, voice, guitar, strings, brass, woodwinds and art. Lessons are offered
on a weekly basis in 30 minute blocks. Advanced lessons are available with permission from the
instructor and the WFAS director. These lessons are 45 or 60 minutes and will have an additional
cost. Vocal instruction is offered to third graders through adults. Art instruction is offered in 45 and
60 minute blocks.

REGISTRATION AND POLICIES

To begin the enrollment process, new students must contact the director, complete a registration form
and enrollment agreement, and submit them with the first months tuition and a $50 non-refundable
registration fee on or before the registration deadline, August 25. When a student is enrolled, he/she
is committing to an entire nine months of study and is responsible for tuition fees even in the event
he/she has to drop during the semester that he/she is enrolled.

LESSONS & SCHEDULING

To provide consistency and an atmosphere conducive to learning, all WFAS lessons are taught at
Southcliff Baptist Church ~
No exceptions. During the enrollment process, each student will be assigned an instructor. The
student or parent of the student will then be contacted to confirm a convenient lesson or class time.
Once a lesson time is established, it is important that the student continue through the semester with
that time.

INSTRUMENT POLICY
A student should be able to practice on an instrument that facilitates progress. Guitars and violins
should be fitted to the individual and may need upgrading as the child grows. Piano students may
begin on a keyboard for one semester only. After that time, having an acoustic piano is imperative, or
the students technique will suffer, and precious Instructional time will be lost. The director and
teachers will be happy to recommend dealers for new or used instruments.

MAKE UP POLICY
We consider your private lesson time as a standing appointment. If the teacher has to miss a lesson, it
will be made up. If the student misses a lesson, PRIOR NOTICE IS REQUIRED. Twenty-four hour
notice is preferable. However, if a student wakes up ill on a lesson morning, please call the instructor
before 9:00 a.m. Messages cannot be relayed through the church office. Under these circumstances,
(with proper prior notice) the teacher will make up ONE lesson per student per semester.

END OF SEMESTER RECITALS

It is important for students to hear other students play/sing. There is also great value in students
performing in public. Therefore, each student will be REQUIRED to attend and play/sing on the end
of the semester recital and should plan to remain for the entire time. Adult students are not required
to perform on recitals.

INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY

In the case of inclement weather, WFAS will follow the FWISD as to determining closing for the
day, in which case all teachers and students will be contacted by email. Any closing of the WFAS
due to inclement weather will be considered an automatic make up.

TUITION
The Worship Fine Arts Studio tuition covers all lessons, administrative expenses, salaries, recital,
and theory exam expenses. Lesson books are not covered by tuition.

The general cost of books is $25 per

semester. An accompanist fee for recitals
of $50 is charged for vocal students.
