AQUA Fresh Water Generator Principle of Construction

The AQUA Blue fresh water generator consists of single plate pack containing a

flexible number of titanium plates.

These plates are suspended within a frame , frame plate and pressure plate.

Evaporation , separation and condensation all occur in the same plate pack.

Among the plate pack features are gaskets with rubber flaps that indicate correct

plate assembly.

Combined system for a condenser cooling water , feed water and ejector water.

The sea water floes regulated to ensure optimized production and fresh water with

the correct quality.

The fresh water system consists of a pump and a fresh water control sensor that

ensures a stable outgoing flow of high-quality fresh water.

6.2 State each components fitted on the fresh water generator and explain their

function.

1) Control Panel

To control the process of producing fresh water from sea.

2) Pressure Gauge and Thermometer

To measure pressure.

Control of sea water to the condenser and jacket cooling water to the

evaporation.

Permit control of both heating and cooling of these units.

3) Brine / Air Ejector

Discharge brine

Provide and maintained vacuum condition in the fresh water generator.

4) Water Clock

Uses a flow water to measure time.

5) Pressure gauge fresh water

To measure pressure at fresh water inlet or outlet.

6) Vacuum Gauge

To measure vacuum condition in the fresh water generator.

Provide vacuum reading.

7) Fresh Water Pump and Fresh Water Control Sensor

To ensure a stable outgoing flow.

8) Anti Scalant Dosing Tank

Prevent scale formation.

Correct anti scalant dosing

Prolong the cleaning intervals.

9) Salinometer

Provide reading on the salinity of fresh water.

Check the fresh water salinity.

Prevent whole fresh water from getting contaminated with salt water.

The value of salinometer is kept below 10 ppm.

Operating Principle

1. Feed water is taken from the flow of sea water coolants.

2. Feed water enter the lower ( evaporation ) section of the plate pack , which the plates

that are warred by heating medium.

3. Water evaporated around 40C - 60C in a vacuum which is maintained by the brine /

air ejector.

4. The vapour produced rises between the plates into the middle ( separator ) section of

the plate pack , where any droplets of entrained sea water are removed. Gravity cause

these droplets to fall back into the brine pump at the bottom of fresh water generator.

5. Only clean fresh water vapour reach the top ( condenser ) section of the plate pack ,

which is cooled by a flow of sea water.

6. The vapour is condensed into fresh water , which is pumped out of the fresh water

generator by the fresh water pump into the fresh water tank.
