I Love Donald Trump...I Love Him Not...

This essay has been dedicated to my beloved Sarah who has been an unfailing inspiration in the creation of it...

Whether one loves Donald Trump or not, we all have one thing in common
with him: he is a human being as we all are. Please do not accuse me of
making excuses for him. I have written at least three articles where I have
lambasted him for his arrogance and ineptitude, and I only wish he were not
president of the DisUnited States when, in its relatively short history, an
individual with real leadership capabilities is most needed to save this nation
drifting more forcefully each day towards a horrible Anarchy. Also, please do
not charge me with preaching to you. In this essay, I am only trying to seek a
common sense approach to these often thought of insurmountable diffculties
America is embroiled in nowdilemmas that are causing tensions that too
frequently are bursting into ill will, hatred, and even violence. People should
live together in a spirit of good will and promise, and not be at each others
throats with vindictiveness and hatred. Don't you agree?

Bertrand Russell (1872-1970), mathematician, rationalistic philosopher and

winner of the 1950 Nobel Prize in Literature, authored The Conquest of
Happinessnot a technical, professional philosophical volume yet one that
has enjoyed numerous reprints since its initial publication in 1930. In that
tome BR distinguishes the narcissist from the megalomaniac: The
megalomaniac differs from the narcissist by the fact that he wishes to be
powerful rather than charming, and seeks to be feared rather than loved. Can
someone think of Donald Trump as possessing any other mindset?

What then are some symptoms of megalomania? Delusional belief of

superiority; delusions of greatness; delusions about one's own power; and
delusions about one's own importance. A megalomaniac is someone who
needs to exert control, dominance or power over others. This is a sickness,
and Donald Trump suffers it. Where are the psychologists, psychiatrists and
psychoanalysts who have the courage to inform us of these mental defciencies
the president of the DisUnited States possesses? Why have they been so
taciturn? Why didn't they warn us before the presidential election in 2016?

There are millions like Donald Trump in the DUS. The resignation or
impeachment of Donald Trump will not resolve America's quandary. Trump
has lived a life of almost total satisfaction of whatever desire he has possessed.
And it was greed and corruption that propelled him all the way to the White
Housewithout ethical principles guiding his path. He is a selfsh
businessman who thinks he can run a nation, as its president, as one would
manage a business.

Silvio Berlusconi of Italy sought to do the same. When he suffered his frst
political defeat he announced on Italian television: When I was president of
my company Fininvest, I had working for me 400 managers. I told them what I
wanted done, and they did it. But, when I went to Rome as a politician, I
encountered 5,000 managers and I was unable to manage them in the way I
wished. Exactly what is now happening to Donald Trump. He might know
how to run a company, but a government is such a different undertaking.

I have sympathy for Donald Trumphe being a human as I am. And I think it
is best that we reap on him a sense of fellow feeling instead of loading him
down with hate and reprobation. His reign is over. It is just a matter of time
before he will be forced to resign or be impeached. And this will not, then, be
the end of America's decline. Donald Trump's demise will shock not only the
United States, but nations throughout the world. America's reputation will be
ridiculed and confdence in the democratic experiment will be replaced by
right-wing extremists doting over the failure of the American Dream.

We must not exclude the horrible effect this non-accomplishment will have
on Donald Trump's persona. All his life he has had his way. For him, the
presidency of the United States has been the last, and most prestigious,
pinnacle for him to add to his curriculum vitae. Instead of making the United
States great again, he caused it to founder in the grime of discontent and
decadence. At this realizationwe must ask ourselveswill Donald Trump
choose to end his life rather than bear this horribly disappointing reality all
alone?
