Candidate As I am currently working on English teaching Nelson Mandela said that Education is the most powerful
A field, I am passionate about designing the most weapon we can use to change the world. After completing the
appropriate English teaching material for specific
purposes and for some specific contexts in Indonesia
especially in West Nusa Tenggara. I got myself involved
in education development in rural area as well. Teaching
the children how to read, write, count and speak in
Bahasa Indonesia properly is also part of my concerns.
Indonesia is now positioned in the third largest education
system in the Asia region with more than 50 million
students, 2.6 million teachers and more than 250,000
schools (www.worldbank.org). The massive and diverse
education system in Indonesia now faces challenges
when it comes to developing the equality of education in
all provinces.
To meet those challenges, I need to study more
and gain knowledge about the best education systems in
Asia that can be adapted in my region, discuss about the
latest issues appear in Asian Education system with
practitioners in this field, and meet the other youth from
all over Asian countries who are also having the same
challenges. My future objectives are to improve the
education system in West Nusa Tenggara from the
bottom to the up level; I will start developing the system
at the foundation located in rural area first then develop
the other areas and to create the most appropriate
learning based-context to students in different area.
International Youth Exchange Program 2017 will
definitely provide opportunity and will help me in
solving those challenges.
Moreover, my home-country and my region will
gain benefits from the program I am to participate in
program, conducting a social project related to education field would
be my concern. First thing first, I would like to initiate a workshop in
education development system. The intended outcome of this project is
to help the children in Lombok Area to become the agent of change
with a book and a pen. The education practitioners, university students,
and local communities from various fields of interest sitting together
and discussing the education issues we face in Lombok will also be
included within the workshop.
Not only having the best education system among ASEAN
country, Singapore is also ranked No. 9 in UNESCOs education index.
As one of the ASEAN countries, Malaysia has reached the 94% of
Adult index literacy which makes it positioned in the third best
education in ASEAN. After participating in this program, I will study
and gain valuable knowledge, skills, and experiences about the
education system through the discussion with representative youth
from those countries and local education site visits. Therefore, I will
take a part in sharing all my theoretical knowledge and practical skills I
gained during the program.
The education practitioners will help to deliver and give an overview
about todays education system and its issues. The university students,
as they will become the future leader, will learn more from the
workshop and think how to help and contribute to their region from
now on. The local communities will definitely contribute to the region
directly through their programs. For example, a community which
concerns in rural education will share and apply the knowledge and
skills they gained about the latest education system from the workshop.
If the community concerns in environmental issues, then they can give
environment-based education. Sharing the importance of maintaining
the environment, teaching the children simple things like Dos Donts
in maintaining the environment and motivating the locals to read more
 several ways. Firstly, promoting friendship and mutual
understanding among the youth of the Asian countries.
Secondly, as Indonesian youth, I am able to broaden my
perspectives on the world. Thirdly, with the other youth,
I am able to strengthen our spirit of international
cooperation and practical skills for international
collaboration. Fourthly, I can promote Indonesian
cultures while exchanging cultures as well. Last but not
least and the most important is, to promote peace and
keep solidarity relationship among all Asian countries.

Through this program personally I can enhance my
network and friends to get more ideas and make me
more open minded. Besides I can explore more about
others culture since I know that this program will place
me with people from all over Indonesia. Moreover as a
teacher I have new stories to share to my students to
motivate them to have a good sense of social live, caring
and volunteering that can become one of their ways to
reach their dream, traveling abroad. Furthermore for my
community, this opportunity definitely will let me get
more relation and network to make my community
development grows well and probably get donation or
more volunteer from outside Lombok and outside
Indonesia. For my home country, through this program
I will be able to become an ambassador to international
people I meet later if I am elected to promote the
tourism that we have in Indonesia especially in Lombok
and NTB.

My post project after fulfilling this program is that I am going
As it is about to begin now, keeping it sustainable is more important
than creating the new project which is just temporary. Since my
community has just been granted donation for women empowering
project in the village where I volunteer, my friends and I had been
chosen to be in charge in running this project. The things that we are
going to recycle are the unsold pre-used clothes. The pre-used clothes
are gotten from peoples donation from the cities throughout Indonesia
especially NTB and Lombok. These clothes are collected to be sold
again as the second hands stuff and the fund will be donated as the
scholarship for smart students in the village but they cannot afford to
pay to get the higher level education. the unsold pre-used second hands
stuff like clothes will be revalued again by doing the recycling project
to make it more precious and valuable in market. The products that we
are going to make are tota bag, pillowcase, pouch, purse and many
more. Who will be in charge in continuing this project? Of course the
women in the village because they are they stakeholder of their village
and have big responsibilities to develop their village. We are just the
assistance, guidance and trainer for them to help their economic and
women are empowered.
