3DMI) that was expressed in E. coli. Original
protein was observed by x-ray diffraction at
1.5A resolution. The figure highlights the
heme complex with the Fe sphere; the
residue above the heme is MET105 and the
residue below is HIS63; not shown is the Mg
ligand located around the external perimeter.
Residues that flank the heme environment,
namely HIS and MET, could affect the
pyridine hemochrome assays absorbance
reading and the extinction coefficient that is
observered from analyzing the heme
environment.
