Reading one chapter and then sending them the next one to read. Make them do as
homework sentences with the vocabulary that they have found

(The mysterious woman has hidding a microphone under the table 1, when she heard
someone coming2 and then she hid herself3)
S: Fifteen men on a dead mans chest. Yo ho ho and and a bottle of rum. Drink and the
devil killed the rest. Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum4. Are you looking for something?
MM: Wheres the gold ring?
S: Its in my jacket pocket. Give me the jacket, slowly5.
N: Mmmm it smells good here6.
JS: Wow, that was a long trip!
S: Well, not exactly. Whos this?
JS: Id like to introduce you to Nadine. Shes my sec... my new partner.
S: Welcome to Barbudos. Let me take... your bag.
N: I can carry it.
S: Taxi. Waterfront Hotel.
TA: Americanos?
JS: Si, seor.
TA: Twenty dollars.
S: Two dollars.

N: When did you come to Barbudos, Steve?
S: About twenty years ago. I left the merchant marines. First I worked on fishing boats.
Then I saved enough money to buy a boat8.
N: Did you buy a fishing boat?

Introduce REFLEXIBLE PRONOUNS. Explain that the mysterious woman hid herself. Then take a mirror or draw it and explain
that you say I am looking at myself no I am looking at me Then practice with sentences, questions and so on. Dont forget to make

Introduce ADVERBS. Draw on the board two turtles, first explain that the turtle is slow and in the another picture explain that the
turtle walks slowly. Give more examples like that, then tell your student to give you examples. Then practicee with questions. In the
questions that they have to ask outside try to give them multiple choise for example in the key words you must put: ___/ your
mother/ drive (slow-slowly)? ___/ your teacher speak english very (good/well)?. Dont forget to explain the exceptions like: good,
fast, hard and hardly, sudden and suddenly. Reinforce this grammar next class. Extra material Grammar Book pg. 158

Introduce SENSE VERBS. Start drawing and eye, a nose, a mouth, an ear, a hand and a heart. Then explain them that human
beings have 5 important sense. Then start giving examples with look (Without writing anything, just explain that the eye means look)
For example: The computer looks old You look beautiful today. Give them more examples and ask them for examples as well.
Dont forget to give them vocabulary (adjectives). In the same way explain the others. Then take them outside without notebook and
start asking them How does this room smell? How do those flowers look?, etc After some questions with all of the sense verbs take
them again to the class and make them ask yes/no questions outside. You must reinforce next class. Extra material Grammar Book

Introduce ENOUGH. When you explain enough start with the usage of ENOUGH + ADJECTIVES OR ADVERBS (My sister
cant get married yet because she is not old enough) first give them examples then you have to write on the board some words and
they have to complete the sentence using this structure. For example: good enough, strong enough, thin enough, etc. After some
practice (until they can give examples by themselves) continue with ENOUGH + NOUNS (I want to buy a car but I dont have
enough money) make them realize the difference between using enough + adjectives and enough + nouns. Practice the same as before
first giving them examples then write on the board key words for them to give examples. Dont forget that after practicing in class you
must ask questions outside using both of them and then report in class. Extra Material Grammar Book pg.190
S: No, I didnt. I bought an excursion boat. It has glass windows. You can see the
tropical fish under the water, I take tourist around the isaland. We go to sunny beaches.
They go swimming. Its not an exciting life 9. But the island is beatiful, the food is delicious,
and the people are friendly... Am I boring you, Jack?
JS: No, youre not. Im a professional listener 10... It sounds like you found your island
paradise, Steve.11
S: And I found the Capitans gold.
N: What is the Captains gold?
S: Be patient.
S: You had a long trip. Why dont you rest12, then, meet me at my boat.
JS: Good idea. Where is it?
S: Walk one block down to the port and turn left13. The Glass Boat.
JS: Right. Well meet you in an hour.
S: See you later, alligator.
N: Bye.
TA: Mr. Stark and his partner are staying at the Waterfront Hotel. Theyre going to meet
Steve on his boat in an hour.
MM: Good. I hid a microphone on that boat last night.
N: See you in an hour, Jack. Have a rest14.
JS: Thanks. Are you having fun?
N: Yes, it`s a great adventure. But your friends a little stange.
JS: He was a little strange twenty years ago.

SUFFIXES: Dont give them the grammatical name, just explain them that some job endings finish in IST, ER, IAN because they
are used to create new words for example IST: (art-artist, guitar-guitarist, journal-journalist, novel-novelist, chemistry-chymist,
dentistry-dentist, hairstyle-hairstylist, piano-pianist, physichology-phychologist) ER: (cash-casher, law-lawyer, announcement-
announcer, babbysit-babysitter, build-builder, drive-driver, dance-dancer, sing-singer, engine-engineer, manage-manager) IAN
(comedy-comedian, library-librarian, electricity-electrician, magic-magician, music-musician, politics-politician,veterinary-
veterinarian). Practice with them and make them do sentences using them as homework.

Introduce SENSE VERBS + LIKE. With the same drawings that you did to explain sense verbs and in the same way you have to
explaine sense verbs + like. Dont forget to explain one by one giving examples and asking for examples, then take them outside and
ask them What does this rock look like? What does my perfume smell like? using all the sense verbs. Then make them ask yes/no
questions outside and report in class. Reinforce next class.

Reinforce SUGGESTIONS. In present and in past and with all the subject pronouns. Dont forget to give them situations (Im tired,
my brother has fever, headache, the children were sick, etc) for them to give you suggestions.

Practice DIRECTIONS. Using phrases such as: Go straight, turn the right/left, walk one/two blocks, in the corner of, near by, in
front of, etc. Students must be able to give directions to different places.

When you finish with the video and the grammar, dont forget to give them the tricky questions and homework. Check their
summary, grade it and practice for the fluency. When they finish this chapter, they must take the vocabulary from chapters 1-3 of
Dracula. Therefore, they must study for it and they have to take it before they start chapter 8.
