Nanotechnology at Sabanc University
Nanotechnology is not new in Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences (FENS)
From the start FENS faculty have been involved in Nanotechnology
About half of projects were in related areas:
Physics, Materials Science, Chemistry, Electronics, Mechatronics and Biology
with multidisciplinary aspects
To increase these efforts, and keep up with new developments we needed more
sophisticated equipment
The DPT (State Planning Organization) infrastructure project provided the needed
funding and forced us to integrate our previous efforts around a focused
multidisciplinary entity
More than 30 faculty members from diverse disciplines and with various backgrounds
contributed to a 2-year planning process
DPT provided 15M for equipment funding
Sabanc Foundation provided 12M for a new lab building and initial operation
