CONTENTS
1.0 SCOPE
GENERAL
1.1 Scope
This specification covers the general requirements for the design, selection of Level
Gauges for Oil India Limited (EPC IMPLEMENTATION OF 2 Nos. FGGS and 1 No
CGGS & OTP), Assam, India.
The applicable National / International codes and standards are indicated below.
Where neither code nor standard is specified, the Supplier shall propose applicable
codes and standards for review and approval by Purchaser / Consultant / Owner.
Applicable reference standards for the design and quality levels of the supply shall be
of the latest edition of the standards and documentation quoted in the table, including
amendments, unless a edition is mentioned.

1.3 OFFERS :
i) Vendor shall submit detailed specification sheets and catalogues for level
gauges, covering each item (tag number wise) according to Purchaser's data
sheets. These shall provide all details regarding type, materials of
construction, various options, gauge cocks and other accessories of the
instruments offered.
ii) Vendor shall submit catalogues giving detailed technical specifictions and
other necessary information for each type of gauge.
ii) Specifications of the materials for the various parts in the vendor's
specification sheets shall be of the same standard as those in Purchaser's data
sheets.
iii) Vendor shall highlight the deviation, if any, in specifications from Purchaser's
data sheet for each instrument and shall provide reasons for the same. In case
no deviation is indicated it shall be assumed that all specification requirements
shall be met by Vendor.
iv) Vendor shall provide tables and graphs for liquid and steam services giving
pressure - temperature ratings of the gauge glasses offered.
DOCUMENTS/ DRAWINGS
i) Vendor shall submit detailed dimensional drawings, manuals and any other
document indicated in the vendor data requirement sheets to Purchaser.
ii) After placement of purchase order Vendor shall submit final drawings for
each level gauge which shall provide details of centre-to-centre distance,
visible length, number of sections etc. All dimensions shall be in millimeters.
Supplier shall select the Level gauges as per the details mentioned below and as specified.
This shall not absolve or limit the suppliers responsibility and supplier shall be responsible
for the correctness of the selection of type, material and performance of the Level gauges for
the given process conditions.
i) All gauge glasses shall be armoured reflex or transparent type with body and
cover material of forged carbon steel as a minimum and shall have tempered
borosilicate glass with asbestos or other suitable gasket.
For low temperature, low boiling points services, large chamber type will be
used. Large chamber gauges with frost shields shall be provided for cold
services below 0 deg. C internal heating jacket shall be provided for viscous
liquids.
iv) Transparent level gauge illuminator shall be powered from 230 VAC
supply. The gauge shall be certified as explosion proof for use in
temperature class T3, gas groups IIA/ IIB and Zone 1 or Zone 2 as per
relevant area classification. The gauges shall be certified by CMRI and
have valid DGMS approval.
v) Suitable cable entry shall be provided for power cable in transparent level
gauges a specified in datasheets.
vi) All gauges shall have side-side chamber connections, unless otherwise,
specified. Where side connections have been specified, the gauge shall have
two entries 180 degrees apart at each end with one side plugged.
vii) The gasket material and type shall be suitable for the process fluid and its
operating conditions.
viii) Vent and drain connections shall be fitted with nipple, valves & plugs.

i) All openings shall be suitably protected and all machined surfaces suitably covered to
prevent entry of foreign material and avoid any damage during shipment.
ii) Proper care shall be taken in shipping Electronics to ensure safety of the sensing
elements. Seals, extensions and capillaries where specified shall also be suitably
protected.
iii) All items shall be adequately packed to withstand shipping conditions without
damage.
