IX. PAINTING
A. PAINTS AND VARNISH MATERIALS
1. Use Dutch Boy or Boysen paints and Lacquer Varnish. No substitution of paint
materials shall be allowed unless expressly authorized by the owner.
B. CONCRETE AND MASONRY
1. All concrete and masonry surfaces to be printed shall first be thoroughly cleaned
of dirt, grease or strains before any paint is applied. Surfaces shall then be painted
with zinc sulphate and water, and then allowed to dye thoroughly.
2. All exterior and interior concrete and masonry surfaces shall be painted with
masonry paint in two coats. Each coat of paint shall be allowed to dry thoroughly
before the succeeding coat is applied.
C. WOOD WORK
1. All exposed woodwork shall first be well fastened with nails, sunk and putted, the
surfaces cleaned, dried and smoothly dressed and sand-papered before paint and
stain is applied. Interior and exterior wooden surfaces shall be painted with two
coats of glossy oil paint, except surfaces to be varnished.
1. All wrought iron work, window grills, and other metal works shall first receive a
priming coat of red lead and oil. When this has thoroughly dried, they shall be
painted with two coats of enamel paint.
E. COLORS
1. Color schemes for the painting work shall be in accordance with color schemes
selected by the owner. The contractor shall submit samples before applying the
final coat of paint.
