Power transformers and their insulation oils:
Recent developments and best practices in condition monitoring
Insulating oils in power transformers serves as coolant, dielectric and information carrier. Oil
and paper are effective insulators and have always been used in combination. However, even
in ideal conditions, oil and paper will degrade, or age which rate greatly involves effect of
temperature, oxygen availability and moisture.
In this workshop, you will learn several techniques that can be used to assess the condition of
oil and paper. This will allow knowing what preventive measures are to be taken before any
damage happen to the transformer.
