Interactive Student Notebook: One of the most important things the students
will be using this year is their ISN (interactive student notebook). They will be
expected to bring their notebook to class every single day. These notebooks will
have all of their important skills that we learn and take notes on. They will refer
back to these learned concepts throughout the entire year, so it is important that
they keep up with it and make sure it stays organized-for their benefit.

Means of Parent Communication: Check the class website weekly for

information about what we are learning in math class! The website will be
updated every week and is available at http://gattshall.weebly.com/. Teachers can
also be called at 502-485-8272 or emailed at
Kristen.gattshall@jefferson.kyschools.us.

Action Plan: Student behavior will be addressed using the school-wide behavior
plan in the agenda.
JCPS Scale used for
Communicating Grades: At any time, you can access all classes:
current grades through the Parent Portal. It is the parents A=90%-100%
responsibility to be monitoring grades on parent B=80%-89%
C=70%-79%
portal. For usernames/passwords or issues accessing Parent D=60%-69%
Portal, contact the school bookkeeper in the office. If you do U=below 60%
not have computer access, send in a note and I will gladly
print out grades. Report cards will be sent home at the end of the grading period,
paper copies of progress reports will be distributed halfway through each grading
period.
How Grades will be Determined:
Student Engagement with Standards (20%)
Components: Group Work, Notebooks, Participation, Sponges
Student Progression Toward Standards (30%)
Components: Homework, Quizzes, Self Assessment, Projects showing
progress
Homework is assigned Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
night. It is ok to be incorrect on homework, but not incomplete! The
interactive student notebook always contains examples and notes for
guidance.
Content quizzes will be announced. However, students will have
occasional unannounced notebook quizzes which they may use their
ISN as a resource. This makes them accountable to keep their ISN
current!
Student Mastery of Standards (50%)
Components: Proficiency Assessments, Performance Assesments, Projects
showing mastery
Proficiencies are assessments designed by the district and given
approximately once every 6 to 9 weeks. Students will participate in a
weeklong review of content prior to the assessment with clear study
tools to use at home. They are assigned grades based on the following scale:
Ranking Other
Classes
Distinguished 100%
Proficient 85%B
Apprentice 75%C
Novice 60% D
Performance assessments are graded using the following rubric.

Late and Make-Up Work
I do not accept late work unless you were absent from school
the day it was due! It is the students job to ask me for
their makeup work as soon as they return from school!
According to JCPS policy, if you are absent from school, you
have the number of school days you were absent plus one day
to make up and turn in the work.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions!

Parents please feel free to keep this for your records!
I have read the syllabus and understand the requirements of
math class.
