To Whom It May Concern,

Sydney Peters has been my student teacher in my Dance 15, Dance 9, Yoga 9 and Yoga 15 classes for
six weeks. Throughout her placement at Chinook High School, Sydney demonstrated professionalism in
all areas of the teaching practice. She has participated in a wide variety of school events and activities
such as: GSA club, choreographing and assisting for the semi-annual dance show, participating in staff
meetings and staff learning days, and contributing to the school atmosphere with a positive attitude.

Her commitment to student learning and her ability to engage students actively in the curriculum is
commendable. Sydney successfully taught Jazz, Tap, and Hip Hop units to my classes. Her detailed
lesson plans tied directly to the outcomes, which were manifested in the warm-up, across the floor, and
choreographic work. From the very beginning, Sydney came into the classes with confidence and
immediately set out her expectations. She was organized and professional and her methodical work ethic
paid off as she successfully ran her classes with ease. The students responded to her instruction, and
learned from her years of experience teaching dance. She created an atmosphere of community, respect
and disciplined work that could be transferred to any type of classroom.

Sydney successfully weaved curricular outcomes and innovative ideas together for our year end show.
She was heavily involved with the discussion/planning of costuming, lighting and choreography. Sydney
created four creative dance pieces for the performance. Despite having a limited amount of time1 she
successfully managed her time between outside work at a local dance studio, and her practicum. She
was always prepared, and the students respected her for that.

Sydney excelled at her assessment practices. She facilitated a new form of assessment within the Yoga
classes. She helped the students to set attainable goals at the beginning of each week, and guided them
as they reflected on those goals at the end of the week. She was quick to give feedback, both verbal and
written, so the students could alter their yoga practice and grow from the experience. She led the yoga
classes each day, with confidence.

Sydney possesses a positive and enthusiastic personality. She had a great rapport with the students she
worked with. She worked hard to build a relationship with each student. In the Yoga classes, she
implemented question of the day, where she asked a question each day as she took attendance. This
enabled her to get to know the students, and allowed the students to better get to know one another. At
the end of class she was often found conversing with students and building relationships with them. She
is articulate, confident and organized. I have found that other team members have accepted her as a
strong working member of our Fine Arts Department and she has had a positive working relationship with
each one of them, as well as with other staff members.

Sydney would be an asset to any classroom and any school. Her positive attitude, work ethic, and love for
students were evident every day she carne to the school. I would be more than happy to call Sydney a
colleague and the students, in whatever school she decides to work, will be lucky to have her.

Sincerely,

Alisha Hornberger
