INTRODUCTION

A countrys competitiveness starts not only on the factory

floor or in the engineering lab, it starts in the classroom.

Everyone faced so many problems in life, like in family,

friends, school and career. Everyone has different techniques

to compete and deal with this problem. Because everyone in this

world is a competitors, all people must be had an abilities to

be competitive. In this trend of life all people need to do or

go what ever happened. Many problems that easy to solve because

of the people around that can help and support to the person who

deeply in this matter. According to Mrs. Medelyn Valiente

(2017)life is the most difficult exam. Because in reality it

is hard to take randomly, its hard to lift in different things

and everyone be a competitive no matter what happened in life

with God.

Like in the field of Garment Technology, theres a lot of

competition like in classroom in different contest, and also the

person who a dressmaker and tailor. In the field of Garment

Technology theres a lot of things to do in first place take a

measurements until in ending must be organize all things.

Requirement in the field of Garment Technology is to be a

patient person to be a dedicated and diligence. The course

Garment Technology are not easy to become a better and

completely a dressmaker/tailor. It is one of the offer courses

in Sto. Domingo National Trade School (SDNTS), one of the most

popular schools in Municipality of Sto. Domingo, Province of

Nueva Ecija. It is one of the vocational school that can help

and enhance the knowledge of the teenager that they can express

their talents in their young age. In SDNTS every students give

a chance to show and express the talents that God gave in

everyone in this world.

In terms of competition SDNTS is not easy to surrender even

in different competition like academics, singing, dancing and in

vocational. SDNTS sometimes champion in different contest in

vocational tournament. And of course Garment Technology is not

also in last terms. It can be champion in different contest

like in the fast 3 years consecutive garment technology was

champion in divisional competition. The school was always

premeditating all competition that comes. Even some course was

lack of materials teachers do everything about it and the helps

of school.

But in competition in classroom is different in competition

outside. Like in garment technology, theres a lot of student

in different grade level. And the problem is it lack of machine

so the students divided into a groups, but other students

complaining that their project was delayed because of lacking

machine and it cause a failing grades. But the most difficult

of it is the problem that the students did not pass the project

on time because of material needed that they not have a budget

for it. Because the materials like thread, fabric and other

material needed in sewing a garment is not came in school

budget. It is individual budget of every student in garment

technology of SDNTS, not like when have competition.

Sometimes the project cost is too heavy and thats not

carry of other students. In the nearly end of school year

theres an individual assessment that required to do of all

students in different courses. In Garment Technology during

practice for assessment time, students will buy the materials

need that it will not be school provided. So the result is some

students who not carry to buy the materials was cant take the

assessment that happened once a year in SDNTS, because that

assessment is not free, but in school it will be free and the

only things that will buy is the materials and for that the

students feel hopeless that they not cant compete to others

because the problem in terms of budget. But always remember

what anything problems that come there are always a solution,

and in any competition be a competitive person.

SCOPE AND DELIMITATION

This study is focused on the competitiveness of Garment

Technology as a Course In Terms of Material Management

Provision. The subject of the study is limited only for the

grade-10 students of Garment Technology in Sto. Domingo National

Trade School A.Y. 2017-2018.

The duration of the study will starts from June 2017 to

October 2017. This will cover the start of the gathering of

data until the interpretation and drawing conclusions out of the

result of the study.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE PROBLEM

The researchers believe that the study be highly

significant in many aspects to the following persons in one way

or another.

Students. The findings of the study will help the students

to think a ways to cope up about the problems in materials that

they encountered to be more competitiveness.

Dressmakers Teacher. The teachers will have an idea that

their students are having problem in material management so the

teacher knows what to do in kinds of problems.

Administrations. The findings of the study will help them

to realize that lacking in material management will pressure the

students that have a tendency to feel defeated.

Department of Education. They will know what they need to

give/help to the students.

Researchers. They will have an idea or knowledge about

lacking in material management will have a tendency to feel

defeated by students.

Future Researchers. It will be the basic of the new study

of addressing the needs of the learners to enhance their

interest towards Garment Technology.

DEFINITION OF TERMS

For a dear understanding of the content of this research

work, the following are defined operationally.

Competition- The activity or condition of competing.

Competitiveness- Having a strong desire to win or be the best at

something.

Competitors- The persons who compete in any competition.

Course- A series of classes about a particular subject in a

school.

Garment- Wearing cloth by an individual.

Garment Technology- The cloths for making clothes

Management- The process dealing with, controlling things or

people.

Material- Something used in doing a particular act.

Perceived- To notice or become aware of something.

Provision- The act or process of supplying or providing

something.

Technology- The application of scientific knowledge for

practical purposes.
