Course 104:

Nonlinear System Identification in Structural Dynamics

Sunday, February 1, 2015 | 8:00 a.m.6:00 p.m.

Course Description Instructors

Because nonlinearity is a frequent occurrence in real-life Gatan Kerschen
applications, there is a need for efficient and rigorous analysis University of Lige
methods for accounting for nonlinear phenomena. This course
focuses on nonlinear system identification techniques, which Keith Worden
amounts to extract useful information directly from experimental University of Sheffield
measurements. Specifically, the identification process is a
progression through three steps: nonlinearity detection, The instructors have extensive experience
nonlinearity characterisation and model parameter estimation. in nonlinear structural dynamics, from
Gatan Kerschen The course will present these three steps in great detail and analytical and numerical modeling to
illustrate them using both academic and industrial examples. the interpretation and exploitation of
experimental measurements.
Who should attend
Graduate students and researchers who need to learn how to extend
system identification to nonlinear vibrating structures. Practicing
engineers who need to account for nonlinear behavior in their
applications instead of overlooking it, as is the common practice.

Course Fee
The regular course fee for Nonlinear System Identification in
Keith Worden Structural Dynamics is $400, and the student course fee is
$200. Course fee includes lunch, course handout material, and
refreshment breaks. Lodging and additional food or materials are
not included.
