Course Title: Foundations of MAPEH
Course Unit: 3
Course Description:
This unit covers the historical, philosophical, and sociological development of MAPEH
necessary to understand principles and theories of Music, Arts, Physical Education, and Health. It
also discusses on the current trends and development of MAPEH.
Contact Hours/week: 3 hrs. per week / 54 hrs. per semester
Prerequisite: None
Course Outcomes: At the end of the course, the students shall be able to:
1. grasp the history, philosophy, and sociological development of physical
education in the different era and comprehend the principles of Music, Arts,
PE, and Health, and learn the proper way of demonstrating the different
aspect of MAPEH;
2. appreciate the historical development of Physical Education and be able to
appreciate the effort on practicing the different skill in the field of MAPEH
especially in sports;
3. demonstrate the correct sports skills; and
4. make a detailed lesson plan in MAPEH.

Course Title: Facilitating Learning
Course Unit: 3
Course Description:
The course is designed to introduce the basic learning theories and principles
as basis for the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of instruction
using educational technology. Students are expected to acquire skills in integrating
technology in various content areas. Courses are focused on the design and
development of instructional plans.

Course Title: Gymnastics
Course Unit: 3
Course Description:
This course deals with the activities that help the individual to tone up muscles,
develop strong, healthy, and shapely bodies, improve poise, posture, self-confidence,
determination, and self-discipline, increase accuracy of movements, balance control of
body parts, and coordination of movements, and achieve the satisfaction of having
acquired and improved a skill.

Course Outcomes: At the end of the course, the students shall be able to:
1. basics of the theory of gymnastics;
2. professional vocabulary, performing techniques, methodology and spotting
schemes of exercises in general, acrobatic and artistic gymnastic;

and various agents used to increase the level of motor skills;
4. general rules and judging regulations in gymnastic sports and the principles
of the organization of school gymnastics competition; and

Course Title: Music Literature (Western)
Course Unit: 3
Course Description:
A broad survey of Western Classical music, extending from antiquity to the
present. Course activities include lectures, writing and listening assignments, and
primary source readings. Salient repertoire from each historical period is situated in a
sociocultural and socio-political context. The reception histories of particular works
will be addressed. Parallels between musical aesthetics and techniques and
concurrent tendencies in other art forms, as well as the influence of nonWestern
music on Western composers are discussed.

This course is intended to introduce to the students knowledge in the
Philippine Music of Cordillera and Aetas, Mindanao, Mindoro, Palawan, Visayas, their
musical instruments and vocal music. It also aims to survey the traditional music
(vocal and instrumental) of China, Japan, India, Indonesia, Thailand, Korea, and
Pakistan.
