Wrap and Turn Yarn Over Japanese
German Twin Stitch (aka Shadow Wrap) Yarn Over
Short rows are used in many knitting
projects. The use most familiar to knitters
is turning the heel of a sock. Dipped hems,
bust darts, and ruffles can all be made with
short rows. Designers are constantly coming
up with new ways to use this old technique.
This camp is all about the way that we
camouflage the turning point so that we do
not leave a hole in our knitted fabric.
The class project will be a ruffled scarf that
will serve as a record of the different types of
short rows you will learn throughout the day
long camp.

9:00 am to 3:30 pm
Classes will be 45 minutes each
with 30 minute breaks.
Youll have a longer lunch break to enjoy
your choice of downtown Valparaisos

Cocoknits
Julie Weisenberger of Cocoknits has created a top down, seamless
sweater making system that imitates the look of a set in sleeve. It is a
perfect technique for enjoying a fiber while making a quick, simple, classic
sweater.
Sometimes seamless sweaters suffer from lack of structure that causes
them to lose shape. Julie Weisenberger has conquered this problem by
adapting the English Tailored Shoulder to hand knitting. Her techniques
give your sweater good bones, providing structure and support in the
critical shoulder area.
The goal of this class is to get you comfortable with the Cocoknits
basic sweater system and help you see how you can easily make small
modifications to get the sweater you want. Julies methods will help you
think about gauge in a new way, knitting yarns at looser gauges than the
ball band suggests to make warm weather friendly knits.

it woven? Does it involve a lot
of sewing? None of the above.
You'll work with self-striping
yarn which creates the illusion
that each small section is made
from a separate yarn source,
when in fact you'll be working
with one continuous strand.
It's also a great opportunity to
try the option of knitting back

Felted Yarn Bowl

Want an unbreakable, light weight yarn bowl
that conveniently squishes to fit in your
project bag? Susan has created a pattern for
a knitted and felted yarn bowl that will do just
that. You'll begin on double pointed needles
at the center bottom of the bowl. Then you'll
work on circular needles to create the bowl
shape. After the bowl is felted down in the
washing machine, you'll cut the slot to guide
your knitting yarn for smooth knitting.
