CLEAN AIR IS A MUST FOR PATIENT SAFETY

Two ideologies:
1. HTM/ISO take in ambient air, use any type of air compression method (oil-injected or oil-
free) and ensure patient safety by means of an ultra high purification system (MED + QDT)
2. NFPA99 (US) / CSA 7396-1 (CAN) be more stringent on air quality intake and ensure
patient safety by not adding contaminants during the air compression stage

In normal operation both systems will provide clean air, however only oil-free solutions fully
eliminate the risk of oil carry-over to the patient

Due to the compressor being considered part of a Medical
Device (Medical Airplant), it should:
Have a risk analysis
Software should be compliant with EN62304 (class A)
Software should be extensively tested acc. to standard
Test report should be created and available on request
EMC test performed (Domestic/industrial Environment !)
HTM
Be part of technical file (MDMF) for a Medical Airplant
Have automatic-restart-after-power-failure activated
Additional safety features based on Risk Analysis
Specific test procedures during design, production, installation
and commissioning
