We are commanded to Stop thinking like children. (1 Corinthians 14:20).
There are lots of things you can do to help you grow. Read a book of the bible youve never read
before. Pick up a commentary (I can recommend a few) on a book of the bible. Try a new way of
praying. Visit another church that does things very differently than Wrightsville Hope. Volunteer for
a ministry thats new to you. If none of these ideas feel quite right for you, I am sure you can think up
something on your own. If not, I would be happy to help you find something that would help you
grow.
This fall, in the words of Colossians may we all walk in a manner worthy of the Lord. May we all
please Him in all respects. May we all bear fruit in every good work. And may we all increase in the
knowledge of God. Amen.

Five things to pray for: The Lost from Romans
Since weve spent our time in Romans this summer, here are 5 things you can pray for unsaved family and
friends based on verses from the book. (Follow this months Romans reading plan and you might discover a few
more!)
1) Romans 1:4
May ______ know and believe that You, Jesus, through the Spirit of holiness were declared with power
to be the Son of God by Your resurrection from the dead. May ______ come to know You as Jesus Christ,
his/her Lord.
2) Romans 5:5
May _______ know that hope does not disappoint, because You have poured out Your love into his/her
heart by the Holy Spirit, whom You have given to ______.
3) Romans 8:26
May ______ know and believe that the Spirit helps ______ in his/her weakness. [Even though] ______
does not know what he/she ought to pray for, the Spirit himself intercedes for _______ with groans that
words cannot express
4) Romans 12:18
If it is possible, as far as it depends on ______, may he/she live at peace with everyone.
5) Romans 16:20
May ______ know and believe that You, God of peace, will soon crush Satan. May Your grace, Lord Je-
sus, be with ______.

Pray for the World: Austria
from operationworld.org
Austria is a nation of culture, music, art and beautiful scenery. However, it lies for the most part spiritually
empty. While 84% of Austrians believe in God (This number is high for Europe), few Austrians have met Jesus
personally. Rates of suicide, abortion and alcoholism indicate the great need for spiritual foundations. Pray for
the shell of religion in this nation to be filled by the living presence of Christ.
Austrias longstanding Catholic culture is in serious decline. Record numbers leave the Church each year.
Annual membership loss accelerated through the 1990s and 2000s to around 1% per year, a trend showing no
sign of changing. The church tax (1% taxable income) and prominent sex scandals among the clergy both
contribute to break from the church. Seeking God outside the confines of Catholicism is little understood at
present. Pray fervently for the growing renewal movement in the Catholic Church.

Coming Soon: Isaiah

Often called the fifth Gospel, the book of Isaiah has more to say about Israels coming Messiah than any other
Old Testament book. Brilliant, courageous, uncompromising, Isaiah declared that the year of the Lord had
come and Gods people needed to either step up, or stand down. When Isaiah spoke, kings trembled.
But too often, when we read Isaiah today, Gods people have trouble hearing what Isaiah is saying. Why?
Because we tend to miss the larger context.
Join us this fall as we travel back to the 8 th Century BC. For 8 weeks, Dr Sandra Richter (the teacher behind
Epic of Eden) will explain Israels religion and economy, explore the definition and role of prophet, and help us
apply the message of this great champion of the faith to our lives today!
The study will involve a series of daily readings through the week. We will gather once a week to discuss the
readings and watch the teaching videos from Dr. Richter.
Check the bulletin for more information.

A letter from Rose Wertz ~ An Elevate Student
God has a plan for all of us. He has blessings for all of us whether or not yours came already. My first blessing
is my step dad Casper. Casper came into my life when I was two months old, shortly after my dad died of lung
cancer. Cass has not only taken care of me but my brother, my sister, my mom, and his son. Casper has
taught me how to be strong and independent. Even though I don't call him "dad", he knows I accept him as
one. I thank God each and every day for blessing my family and I with such a wonderful man.
Another blessing I have in my life is Ms. Sue. I've known Ms. Sue ever since I was in 3rd grade (6 years) in
Encounter. If God didn't tell me to go to Encounter that day, I probably would've never met this amazing
woman. She has always been there for me when no one else has. She has let me talk to her about different
things that are going on in my life, etc...
God definitely has a blessing for each and every one of us. Whether or not it already happened. Maybe it might
happen tomorrow, days, weeks, or years. And when that certain blessing comes you'll know it.

Star Class 2018 Calendars

The Star Class is working on the Church Calendars for 2018. We apologize for not having a church calendar for
2017. I had a computer breakdown and the program was lost. I now have my computer repaired and we are
back in business!
We have placed blank forms with the calendar so that you may complete with any updated information we
would need. You may put completed forms in Cheryl Wallaces mailbox.
Thank you for helping us to have a calendar for 2018 for publication.
