Description of Biogas Plant Flow Chart

Vibrating Screen and Material Feed Tank

- Removes any rubbish in POME such as, debris, fibers, and kernel shell,
- POME is temporarily stored in Material Feed Tank (MFT),
- POME in MFT is automatically transferred to Material Storage Tank.by
Material Transfer Pump.
Material Storage Tank (MST)
- Allowing feeding process (POME supply to Digester Tank) to be maintained
constantly,
- Amount of POME transferred to MST is controlled by MST level (height),
- If POME level in MST has reached predetermined setting, Material
Transfer Pump will automatically stop.
Digester Tank (DT)
- Where anaerobic digestion process takes place generating biogas,
- DT temperature is maintained at Temp. 52-550C,
- Coupled with one unit AnMBR Tank, DT is designed to receive maximum
input load of 25000kg-COD/d to generate ~12000Nm3 biogas/d,
- Generated biogas is stored in a gas holder consisting double membrane,
- Outer membrane acts as a roof of DT; Inner membrane (level) is always up
and down following the biogas flow, while its level is used as control setting
for flare stack operation and GE.

Description of Biogas Plant Flow Chart

AnMBR Tank and AnMBR Membrane Unit

- Continuously filtering the fermented sludge from DT to get more
concentrated sludge (biomass) and circulating it back to DT,
- Discharges soluble inhibitors (for ex: ammonia) as AnMBR permeate,
- Consist of 1600-sheef of flat membranes divided into 8 membrane unit,
- Membrane unit is continuously cleaned using a closed gas aeration.
Flare stack
- To burn the excess gas from DT (when biogas generation > biogas
consumption),
- The operation is automatically controlled by gas holder level,
- Ignition of biogas can be done either by pilot mode (using LP-gas) or pilot
off (direct ignition using spark rod).
Scrubber
- To remove H2S from biogas in order to meet the allowed H2S concentration
for Gas Engine (Navigat recommends less than 200ppm)
- Using ferric oxide (Fe2O3) as the media to adsorb H2S,
- Consist of two scrubbers with series sequence (scrub1 scrub2 GE).
- Media scrubber has to be replaced with new media when it gets saturated.

Kubota Submerged Membrane Unit

36

Overview of SMU

Submerged Membrane Unit

Kubota Submerged Membrane Unit is designed to maximize the
performance of Membrane Cartridges.

Manifold Units are installed in the Membrane Tank.

Tube Treated water permeating the Membrane
Cartridges is discharged through Tubes
and Manifold.

Membrane Case

Membrane Cartridge

Diffuser Case

To prevent fouling of Membrane Cartridges, the

upflow of sludge driven by the air supplied from
Diffuser Diffuser scours the surface of membranes.

Overview of SMU

Membrane Cartridge
Membrane Sheet is an MF (MicroFiltration) membrane with an average pore
size of 0.2 m. It creates hygenic water with no coliform.

SMU Advantages

Simple Plant Configuration Chemical Cleaning -

Chemical Cleaning is indispensable for MBR systems. Submerged Membrane

Unit can be cleaned on site, without being lifted out of the tank.
