The company develops,

The Holec brand
Trading first as Hazemeyer,
then as Holec and since 2003

house gases and we should
endeavour to reduce its use as
much as possible. SF6 gas
emissions from switchgear

significantly to the threat of
global warming and climate
change associated with it.
In order to help reduce this,

not producing any medium
voltage installations based on
SF6 technology. Eaton primarily
uses vacuum switches and is

Research and Development
The world of energy is rapidly
changing. Energy consumption
is increasing and will only
continue to increase in the
coming decades, yet society is
being forced to find solutions
which contribute to a cleaner
environment, now and in the
future. Integrating renewable
energy sources into the distri-
bution network and solutions
for wisely and efficiently using
electrical power are just some
of the daily challenges faced
by Eatons Research and
Development (R&D)
department.
Eaton has a full R&D depart-
ment in Hengelo, where
products and solutions for the
three divisions are developed
(see page 7). In this depart-
ment, engineers with
bachelors degrees in the fields
of Electrotechnology, Materials
Science and Engineering work
on developing products and
platforms for low and medium
voltage switchgear systems.
They also actively look for
innovative solutions by applying
new technologies and
materials.

Unique designs are of course
patented. Calculations and
tests are then carried out to
determine the products
feasibility. One of the places
this happens is in our own
Damstra laboratory, where we
can carry out tests using high
voltages and large currents.
Then we get investments in
order to be able to turn
concepts into real products.
We need enough investments
for production to start. The
whole process often involves
collaborating with universities,
partners and Eaton offices
worldwide.
Technology and Production
Within our Technology and
Production department, people
with various specialities work
together in order to get our end
products to our customers on
time. Because of the wide
range of products, the work is
very diverse, from simple
series production to complex
project production series. The
diversity in products and
production methods allows
horizontal growth into an
increasingly complex working
environment.
The General Supply department
mostly works with steel and
copper for use in our end
products. In the press and
foundry, plastic components
for our end products are
manufactured. The supply chain
specialists, planners and ware-
house staff allocate all of the
components that were
purchased or made ourselves
to the assembly line in order
for the end products to be
assembled. This is done in a
complex logistical environment.
The production, assembly and
logistics departments work
using modern technologies and
methods such as Lean
Management, KANBAN, etc.

The Service department has
always handled the specialist
service activities for low and
medium voltage installations.
The commissioning, testing,
maintenance, upgrading and
repair work of all sorts of
switch installations make up
the departments daily tasks.
In addition, the Service depart-
ment offers various services
which relate to safe, reliable
and efficient electrical power
supply such as: electrical arc
tests, network tests, energy
audits, retrofit solutions and
preventative maintenance.
Marketing and
Communications
The Marketing and
Communications department
includes the product manage-
ment and marketing communi-
cation fields. Each product
manager has a product range
which they are responsible for.
The product managers are
involved in developing new
products and creating market-
specific modifications to exis-
ting products. These marketing
professionals convert the
market-specific demands of
the national offices to new
products and decide in collabo-
ration with the national office
on the policy for price,
promotion and market
channels.
The Marketing and
Communications department is
responsible for formulating and
implementing the marketing
and communications policy in
consultation with product
management and the national
offices. The department is res-
ponsible for all promotional
activities, such as organising
exhibitions, seminars and road
shows, product presentations,
documentation, advertising and
direct mail campaigns, and of
course all internal and external
digital communication.

Finance
The Finance department
advises and supports manage-
ment in achieving its objectives
by providing sufficient manage-
ment information and support
in corporate financial matters.
In addition, the department is
responsible for correct financial
reporting in accordance with
fiscal and monetary rules and
regulations. This dual role of
watchdog and business partner
is typical of the Finance depart-
ment and makes for an
extremely interesting working
environment.
Working under the controller
theres an assistant controller
and a group of financial
analysts on the one side, and
a back office with debit, credit
and project administration on
the other. The department gives
solid support to the organisati-
on by maintaining effective
systems and clear processes
and procedures.
Human Resources (HR)
The Human Resources depart-
ment (HR) has an HR generalist
and four HR specialists, as well
as administrative employees
and a compensation and
benefits manager. The HR
department is responsible for
HR policy at a sectoral level,
which operates internationally,
and regional HR policy.
The department advises and
coaches management and
other employees and puts
forward solutions for various
HR related matters. All of this
takes place at a national and
international level, in accor-
dance with the applicable
rules and regulations and in
compliance with the companys
objectives.
