qualification prior to or in 2011 must complete it at the end of 2015. Students who by the end of 2015 have not yet completed their qualification will be required to

Rules
A student with a non-SAICA accredited Bachelors degree or diploma, or a SAICA accredited Bachelors degree older than three years will for 2012 be required to
complete the following ten undergraduate modules for non-degree purposes: FAC3702; FAC3703; FAC3704; ACN306; ACN307; ACN308; TXN203D; AUE301P;
AUE303R and AUE304S to be admitted (or to the newly introduced Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting Sciences (still to be approved/accredited by Higher Educa-
tion authorities)). From 2013 these students will be required to first complete the Advanced Diploma in Accounting Sciences (still to be approved/accredited by Higher
Education authorities) for admission.
Students have until the end of 2013 to complete the qualification. This qualification will be replaced by a newly introduced Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting Sci-
ences, as soon as the latter has been registered/accredited by Higher Education authorities.
Students who wish to progress to CTA Level 2 (Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Accounting Sciences have to pass all the modules of this qualification within a single
examination sitting.
Recognition
Students retain credits for year modules passed for this qualification. However, in order to gain admission to the Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Accounting Sci-
ences, the five year modules must all be passed in the same academic year. This qualification should also not be more than three years old to retain admission rights
to the Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Accounting Sciences.

Rules
Students should enrol for Investments: derivatives (INV4802) only if they are interested in pursuing the Chartered Financial Analyst designation (CFA) and have a
career in stock broking, investment analysis and/or portfolio management in mind.
Students completing their Hons BCom over a two year period are also encouraged to pass Advanced Problems of Business Finance (FINVRAJ) before attempting the
paper Investments: Derivatives (INV4802).
TRANSITIONAL ARRANGEMENTS
Students who registered under the old syllabus (2001 or before) must complete the general honours degree in Business Management; or should a student wish to
register for a specialised degree, an application to this effect must be made to the Head of the Department.
A specialised honours degree in Business Management will not be awarded unless the student has passed all the compulsory papers in that specialised area.
