Specifications for Oil and Grease Interceptor

Specifications

1.0 GENERAL

1.1 Intent
A. It is the intent of these Specifications to give the Contractor/Engineer the
descriptions of the equipment, instructions for the deliveries and installation of
the oil and grease interceptor.
B. The Contractor shall provide all materials and work indicated below unless
otherwise noted and any additional work to produce a completely finished job
as required by the Royal Commission.
C. The interceptor shall be provided to prevent the discharge of oil and grease and
other substances harmful to the sewage disposal system.

1.3 Delivery, Storage and Handling


A. Delivery: Deliver materials to site in manufacturers original, unopened
containers and packaging, with labels clearly identifying product name, model
number and manufacturer.
B. Storage: Store materials in clean, dry area indoors in accordance with
manufacturers instructions.
C. Handling: protect materials and finish from damage during handling and
installation.

2.0 PRODUCTS

2.1 Materials The oil and grease interceptor shall be PDI approved and manufactured
in compliance with ASME A112.14.3
A. Tank - Epoxy coated fabricated steel
B. Cover Steel, epoxy coated, non-skid with gasket, hinge typed cover.
C. Accessories Multi-weir baffle assembly, integral deep seal trap, removable
integral flow control, adjustable draw-off assembly.

3.0 EXECUTION

3.1 Examination
Examine areas to receive grease interceptor. Notify Royal Commission of
conditions that would adversely affect installation or subsequent use. Do not
proceed with the installation until satisfactory conditions are corrected. Specific
attention should be paid to adequate access for maintenance and baffle removal.
Ensure minimum clearance of 21 above unit for baffle removal.

3.2 Installation
A. Install grease interceptor (including flow control device) in accordance with
manufacturers instructions at locations indicated on the drawings.
B. Install grease interceptor ensuring proper direction of flow (i.e. in/out
marking on interceptor), orientation, and to correct elevation.
C. If the interceptor is located in the parking or drive area and finish grade is in
concrete or pavement, casting must be at or above finish grade.
D. Any installation not in conformance with manufacturers recommendations
requires manufacturers consultation and will be subject to Royal
Commissions approval.
